Hi there, my name is Zai. I am told that I am a very handsome boy! I am also a big boy, weighing in at 85 lbs at only 18 months old. I am looking for my very own family that has had or has a GSD.
I was originally purchased as a puppy by a senior woman that wanted a companion. Well, it turns out that a giant puppy is not what she needed. So I ended up being dropped off at a cold place made of mostly concrete and filled with tons of barking upset dogs. I did not like it there. It was very scary and I wanted out desperately. Luckily a volunteer at the shelter saw me and called DFWGSR.
I was picked up by rescue and brought to my new foster family. I was overwhelmed at first, being in a home with multiple dogs and other animals. After only a day I started fitting in. I have now gotten in to the swing of things are things are going great. I have foster brothers and sisters that I get to play with. I also have children in my foster family. They are super cute and always have treats.
I am still a puppy at only 18 months old. I am actually a super sized puppy! I have pretty good manners for my age and I am already housebroken and crate trained.
I am playful at times, but also enjoy lounging around the house.

NOTE FROM FOSTER MOM;
Zai is an alpha male. He is a very strong willed GSD. He is wonderful on his own and also does well with dogs he can be alpha over.
Due to being previously owned by an elderly woman that could not control him, Zai is not well socialized. You can tell he has not been around a large amount of people. He is hesitant when meeting new people, but warms up quickly if given time. He is friendly and outgoing when comfortable in his environment. He is very well mannered in the house and enjoys going to work with me and lounging next to my desk all day. He is not a nuisance barker, but will bark if alerted.
He will require an experienced GSD owner that is ready to take on a young male dog that needs socialization. He must be socialized regularly for a while if they do not want him to turn in to a very territorial dog.
Zai does wonderfully with my children ages 5 years old and 10 years old.
Zai is very smart and eager to please. He bonds quickly to his caretaker and his bond is very strong. He needs to find his forever home with his adoption. He needs stability and love.
Zai is housebroken and crate trained. He is still young though so caution should be taken if left unattended in a home as he is still technically a puppy.
Meet and greets can be arranged with approved applicants.
