1/17/13 - I'VE BEEN ADOPTED

12/14/12 - Kofi wanted to updated everyone on his personality since he is getting comfortable in his foster home now.
He cannot go to a home with children because he is very afraid of them. He should also go to a home where he can be the little king of the house with no other animals. While he normally gets along with his foster siblings, he has randomly snapped at them trying to gain alpha status. He gets jealous when the humans are paying attention to the other pups.
Even though he loves all adults, he is more attached to woman than men. When he wants something, he is like a 60 lb. dog, he is persistent and nothing deters him. Strong headed yorkie.
A fenced in yard is a must and one will have to watch open doors since he will try to exit out of them to go explore.
11/13/12 - Kofi went in November 1 to have his dental and neutering done. I was very concerned because of his newly found collapsing trachea, however his dogtor informed me that it was time to take the risk as his mouth was so infected and we could not clear up the infection, his white blood count hit 30000+. He did very well, and they removed most of his teeth. He has not even realized he has been neutered, not once did he try to go near his incision which was great. He had a followup on Saturday and his whilte blood count is now at 20000 and mouth is still a little inflamed so he will be on antibiotics for another 2 weeks with a follow up in 3 weeks. He has put on some weight and now weighs 5.68 pounds.
He is such a good boy, he came here completely unhousetrained, but has in the past 5 weeks really started to catch onto it. He is very eager to please and is VERY food motivated. I am betting I could teach him to type using liverwurst as a motivator LOL.
He sends puppy kisses to all.....10/26/12 - It is me again, Kofi. I went to see my dogtor today and he said that there was no mass in my lung, it must have been the way I was laying or fluid from the Pneumonia. I have gained almost a pound and we found out today I have a collapsing trachea, which makes surgery a little bit dangerous. At any rate I am having surgery on Thursday, I need a dental, most of my teeth are just literally hanging in my mouth and I cannot clear up the infection I have. So while FM is worried about me going under with the trachea, the dogtor told her "It is time you take the risk, these teeth are slowly killing him." I am having my dental and nueter on Thursday. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers.
10/11/12 - Little Kofi just cannot seem to get a break, but that is to be expected with the shaped that he was in at the shelter and how skinny and weak he was. He has bronchitis or bronchial pneumonia and x-rays were taken and there is a possible mass over the lung, but this is not conclusive and the vet said it could also be from the way is was laying and everything else he is fighting right now. He will be on antibiotics, an appetite stimulant to try to help with his loss of appetite and a broncodialator. Please keep little Kofi in your prayers and any donations towards his care right now would be greatly appreciated. He deserves to feel better and be 100% and not feel like a castoff.
10/3/12 - Kofi came from a high kill animal control where he was surrendered by his owners. He is very sick and very underweight. He is currently at the vet's office getting fluids, x-rays and medicine to help. Please consider donating to his care. He doesn't deserve this at his age.
10/17/12 - Hi everyone, my name is Kofi. My foster mom decided to keep it because I have had it so many years and really it is the only thing of MINE I have anymore.
I kinda had a rough life, I was beaten and starved and then in my golden years was dumped at a kill shelter as my gift for years of loyalty. My foster mom found me and jumped through all sorts of hoops to save me from that place. They were going to send me to Rainbow Bridge, the very next day. My foster mom faced her fear of driving in NYC and came to get me. We had a great adventure on the way home because she got very lost and we ended up seeing more of Brooklyn than she wanted to.
I have 1 tiny foster brother that I have bonded with already, We are great buds and he even shares foster mom's bed with me at night. I also have 2 foster sisters, they are pretty cool too, but they dont play like my foster brother does.
My foster mom says I am amazing. Even with everything I have been through, I am the sweetest, most loving little boy. I love to cuddle and give kisses and I adore belly rubs.
I have been very sick since I got here though. First some kind of tummy bug that I shared with my foster siblings. And now Kennel cough that turned into bronchial pnemonia or bronchitis, so I am on meds again. On the high side, I have gained almost a pound, foster mom is so happy about that. She says I just need to get a little stronger and clear up my cough and then I can go get a dental done and they will take my "jelly beans". Vet says I probably have a lot of pain in my mouth as half of my teeth are just kinda hanging there and on xray doc found air pockets under my teeth. Foster mom is making sure I get metacam each day to make me more comfortable. I have also found I LOVE FOOD, I will eat almost anything put in front of me and clean my plate, for such a little dude I sure eat good.
I am also starting to pick up on potty training, but that is a work in progress.
I love my foster mom and family, but I would kinda like a family of my very own!!
