MEET PIERRE LE GOOSE!
Pierre is a 15 lb. poodle mix that is totally AWESOME on a leash. He walks contently with his person & wants nothing more than the companionship of humans. He takes this laidback attitude with him everywhere he goes (although he does amp it up a notch at meal-time when he wags his nubby tail in anticipation of good chow.) We call him 'Le Goose' because he makes a honking sound when he is lonely. It's both kinda sad as well as sort of funny actually.
Pierre was pulled from the Menifee County Animal Shelter in Frenchburg, KY in mid-July 2007. Their vet estimated him to be 4 yrs old (based on the state of his teeth--which look pretty good.) Underdogs' vet estimated him to be 9 yrs old (based on teeth & skin.) If you want to average those two 'expert' opinions, then he's 6 1/2 yrs old. His foster mom thinks that Pierre is closer to 8 than 4. Regardless of who is right, as the Underdogs' vet said, 'This dog probably still has lots of years & life left in him!'
While Underdogs welcomes any interested adopter, we think that Pierre would make a fantastic companion for a retired person because of his small size, his gentleness on a leash & his affinity for sitting contentedly at one's feet. For this reason, a sponsor has stepped forward to underwrite part of Pierre's adoption fee for anyone on limited income, disability or over 55 yrs old. You can ask his foster mom for more information on that if it's relevant to your situation.
Pierre has been FULLY vetted (that means heartworm tested---negative, all vaccinations, neutered, nails clipped, the works!)
The adoption fee for Pierre is: $70.
