My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rollie is fostered in Dallas, TX. If you live in Oklahoma and you are interested in Rollie - please apply.

Rollie is a sweet little boy that has had some hard times. He was found as a stray by the local animal shelter, and he had a condition that required surgery to his hip (FHO). He also has a broken pelvic bone that will heal on its own with time. Neither the surgery nor the break stops him from being the dog that he is supposed to be. He is loving it at his foster home; playing around with the other fosters is fun for him. He is around 7 pounds, but could stand to gain a pound or two. He is a love; he sleeps right beside his foster mom at night, and so far has been a good boy in regards to potty training. He does have a mistake here and there, but he is living in a house with other males; he also uses the doggie door. He is quiet at the moment, but he just needs time to adjust; he has had a lot in his life lately.

Although Rollie is not a long hair Chihuahua, he does not have short hair either. Since it is summer, his foster mom took him to the Day Spa where he got all dolled up. He got a new shave, ears cleaned, and his nails trimmed; he liked all of that attention. He also likes all the attention he gets now with that great looking hairdo.

He is ready to have his own home, again; this time a permanent home that loves him with no limits. He is approx 1 1/2 yrs old. Rollie would make a great pet for a family with kids because he would be so loyal to them. You can see more pictures of Rollie and other CRT fosters @ http://new.photos.yahoo.com/crtdogs/albums/

8/1/07 Rollie is doing very well after having emergency surgery. Maybe from birth or maybe from the accident that caused all the damage to his hind area, he had a damaged diaphragm. He was very lucky one morning that his foster mom stayed home and noticed that he was having difficulty breathing. Well, his diaphragm had ruptured. This is not something that is common, and the vet had only done 4 of these surgeries in all his years of practice, but Rollie came through like a trooper. We were very sad that he had to stay at the hospital for a week, as he was too! But he has come home and everything is back to normal, except for all those stitches up his stomach and chest, which come out soon. Due to this injury, he will not be able to be a dog that will play rough house with the kids. He won't need to be treated as china either, he will just have limitations.

Rollie's vet bills were extremely high. If you'd like to be a 'Best Friend' to Rollie, please email sponsor@Chihuahua-rescue.com. Rollie would really appreciate it.

Rollie is neutered, HW negative, on HW preventative, and microchipped.
