My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Carmelita is fostered in Dallas, TX. If you are interested in Carmelita and you live in Oklahoma - you are welcome to apply.

Hi, my name is Carmelita (aka Carmie). According to my original CRT vet records, I was born January 1, 2000. I weigh about 8 lbs. I love belly rubs. I don't mind baths, ear cleaning or toenail clipping, but I hate getting my teeth cleaned. I potty outside 98% of the time (I hate rain and snow so keep an eye on me in bad weather). I love to go outside especially to the beach - there are sooo many interesting smells there. I like older kids, but younger kids make me nervous. I am very sweet - I love to kiss my friends and I make friends pretty quick.

I have to take meds for my heart. I have a murmur and the doc put me on an ACE inhibitor, diuretic, Hawthorn berry and Standard Process Canine Cardiac Support. Doc says I'll have to take these forever, but I don't mind 'cause if you hide it in Raw Advantage meat like my foster mom does - mmmmm....Foster mom wanted me to burn off energy in agility when I got more obedient, but the doc says no now - only mild exercise. I have to settle for walks on the beach.
I have learned basic obedience (mean old foster mom) but I am sometimes stubborn - who wants to SIT when there are treats to be had? I've learned to get in my crate on command (or I don't get to eat - my foster mom separates us 'cause us girls are piggy at dinner time).
My foster parents have three male Chis and a female cocker spaniel. I like the long-haired guy the best. I try to get him to play and I clean his eyes for him. I'm OK with other dogs but being an only child sounds good too. I'm looking for someone who would like to spend a lot of time with me. I don't like people who hit each other or critters. Did I tell you I like to eat?

I'd love to cuddle with you and watch some good television -- Animal Planet is my favorite. Do you have a little space in your heart to let me in? If so, I'm ready.
