Lucas, our laborder collie. He's as sweet as a button, as calm as a cat and as lazy as a goose. He likes to give hugs, literally wrapping his arms around your neck and touching the tip of his nose to your nose. He likes to rest his head on your lap, or your knee and gaze into your eyes. He loves spooning at night (and taking up most of the bed while doing so), and he loves to obey. Lucas came to us knowing all of his tricks and behaviors, it doesn't take long to realize this dog has had a lot of love in his life, and lots of training. Lucas can sit, shake, lay, roll over, stay, come and the best part ... he sits by the door before he has the "ok" command, he waits in the car until given permission to come out and he gently rests his paw on your lap and stares at you to let him outside to go potty.
Lucas does not have a ball or toy drive, but he has been loving the dog park and play park more and more every time he visits. He loves to romp with other dogs, and explore the woods, and sniff trees. He's pretty good at being off-leash, on occassion he gets fixed on something and it's hard to break his attention, possibly a hunting breed in him, he stands tall and straight, completely focused on whatever he's fixed on (another dog walking by maybe, or a bird in a tree). Otherwise, calling him from a distance, you can see his beautiful full white chest leaping through the air with glee all the way to you, with an ear-to-ear grin on his face ... he knows he's being a good boy and will get lots of praise when he's obeyed the command to come, and returned to your side.
Lucas is a bigger boy, probably weighing on the higher end of what Border Collie's typically weigh, all the more bundle of love! He still has plenty of energy when the time is right – the other times, he's happy just to lay his head on a pillow and take a nap. A true loyal, loving, cuddly and sweet companion dog. Absolutely fantastic with other dogs, strangers and kids.
Lucas is about 6.5 years old, and in great health. Beautiful black and white border collie markings, with thick legs and snout, floppy ears and a nice wispy tail. Big beautiful brown puppy eyes. Really great snuggle partner, doesn't even mind having my frozen toes tucked under his belly to thaw out after a play in the park!
Lucas is being fostered in Michigan.
