Meet Otis, a wonderful 6 year old German Shepherd/Greyhound mix! He is your true Heinz 57 mutt and probably has a lot of other breeds mixed in there, but those two are our best guess! Otis has the long legs and slender frame of a Greyhound, so he is quite tall, but only weighs in at about 55 pounds.

Otis found himself at the Newark shelter when his family moved and left him, along with 3 other dogs, behind. The landlord called animal control and he was brought to the shelter where he charmed the shelter staff with his easy going nature and cleanliness (he refused to go to the bathroom inside of his cage)! We think his former family must have just fallen on some hard times and did not know what to do, because Otis was obviously well taken care of. He is beautifully trained and has excellent manners! Once out of the shelter it was obvious he was thrilled to be back in a home and he immediately made himself comfortable.

Otis is loved by his current foster family and has adjusted to his new environment beautifully. He gets along great with other dogs and loves to wrestle and play with the other dogs in his foster home. He is a big fan of tennis balls and will happily chase them when they are thrown. Otis bonds very quickly with people and follows his foster dad around the house gazing at him with adoring eyes. He is perfectly housebroken and is fine in the house while his foster family is at work. He is eager to please and will quickly sit and shake hands for a treat. He is quite the fan of food and will surround himself with the dog bowls (just check out the picture!) and lie between them begging for you to fill them.

If you are looking for loyal, loving companion, Otis is it! He is up to date with vaccinations and already neutered.
