My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Frankie is such a quiet LOVE. He is about 3 years old and enjoys the laid-back life, which includes activities like being brushed and petted.  He has the softest fur and a quiet purr. He does very well with his cat friends and would love to find a home with another cat.  Frankie would enjoy a home without small children or a lot of activity, as he's more of a reserved soul, but his playful side does appear from time to time!

Frankie has FIV, which is a feline immunodeficiency disease that is often misunderstood as it has only been discovered about 16 years ago. Cats with FIV can live for many happy, healthy years with you. It means if he is exposed to a feline disease, he could be more likely to get it because his immune system is not as strong as a non-FIV cat. So basically he needs to be kept inside, fed a quality diet, and taken to the vet once/ twice every year for an exam and shots. FIV is not transmissible to humans or dogs and is only transmissible to other cats through saliva via gestation, potentially via nursing her kittens, or cat bite wounds so it would be pretty rare for a FIV+ neutered cat to give it to another cat.  You can read more about FIV here:  http://www.vet.cornell.edu/fhc/brochures/fiv.html or http://www.bestfriends.org/theanimals/petcare/cats_fiv.cfm

Frankie has been at OARS for a little more than a year, and he has blossomed from the timid, mistrusting cat he was when he first arrived!  You see, he used to hide whenever someone entered the room, and now he is more curious and will even be brave enough to greet visitors sometimes!  It will take a special, patient someone to help him along his journey, but Frankie promises he'll be worth the effort!  Because of his undemanding personality, many of the volunteers hold a fond place in their heart for him.

The requested adoption fee for Frankie is $50. He has been neutered, received distemper shots, tested negative for Feline Leukemia, and has been dewormed. He would make a wonderful lifelong companion and would be lucky to love you forever!

Orphan Animal Rescue & Sanctuary, Inc. is a no-kill, volunteer-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to changing the lives of homeless pets and helping people in need in NE WI.
We are a small network of foster-care homes with a small Adoption Center in Neenah. We take in abandoned, neglected and abused homeless animals, primarily from other rescues and shelters. We care for these pets until they are adopted.
All donations go directly to the pets: to buy the food, supplies, medications and veterinary treatments for the homeless animals in our care. To be part of the difference, visit our website: www.orphananimalrescue.org
