Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Zelda and her friend Stitch are 2 intact female ?Rat Terriers who were picked up off Sunnyview Lane in the Fleetwood Community of Ashe County NC. Both girls have proven to be very sweet. They have never been reclaimed. Dog-dog and dog-cat testing is available upon request. We cannot test any shelter animals with children.
Neither the shelter nor our volunteer group (Friends of Ashe County Animals) will transport animals to private adopters. Persons wishing to adopt a shelter animal MUST appear in person at the shelter. Please DO NOT call the shelter directly unless you are (1) planning to drive to the shelter to adopt an animal and need to arrange to meet an Officer or (2) recognize a shelter stray animal as yours and wish to reclaim. Otherwise, we ask that you send questions to fabulousmcg@gmail.com and allow shelter staff to handle emergent calls and their duties of caring for the animals at the shelter. The shelter does not have the ability to perform heartworm testing on-site. Deworming and/or vaccinations can be done on occasion when medication is available (we rely on donations for this). For reputable rescues, however, local volunteer assistance is available for transport to a local Vet clinic for such testing and to obtain appropriate vaccines and Health Certificate at the rescue's expense. In order to pull animals from Ashe County Animal Control, rescues must be approved. The approval process involves submitting an application, available by emailing a Friends of Ashe County Animals (FACA) volunteer at fabulousmcg@gmail.com. As part of the application, rescues will need to submit copies of their adoption application, adoption contract and 501c3. Rescues will also need to provide a Vet Reference. The Animal Control Officers prefer that all rescue-related inquiries be directed to the volunteer email (fabulousmcg@gmail.com) so please do not contact the shelter with rescue-related inquiries. An FACA volunteer will be checking this email daily so please allow 24 hours for a response. Shelter information: Ashe County Animal Control 767 Fred Pugh Road Crumpler, NC 28617 Shelter Hours: 10:00AM-2PM, MON/WED/FRI. They are closed to public on TU/TH/SAT/SUN.
