My story

Hi, my name is Lemon! Thanks for stopping by to take a look at my page. I?ve been called both Lemon and Hercules, but since I call myself Lemon (oftentimes saying ?I love you Lemon?), everyone calls me Lemon (I think that?s a nicer name anyway - very reflective of the beautiful yellow coloring underneath my flight feathers!). As you can see in my photo, I have to wear a protective collar because sometimes, while preening my chest feathers, I get a little carried away and hurt myself by picking at my skin. This collar helps to distract me from this behavior - plus, I think it makes me look quite handsome and distinguished! UPDATE! I haven't had to wear my collar for several months now! Everyone here at the Refuge is very proud of me and although I may not look quite as distinguished as when I wore my collar, it sure is a lot easier to get around and even more importantly, snuggle up to people, when I don't have to wear it!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All of our animals have an individualized fee associated with their adoption which is based upon the vet fees incurred. Please contact us for an adoption application. There will then be a phone interview, home inspection, and then you will visit with the birds to help determine which bird is appropriate for your home.

Go meet their pets

Currently, you can meet our pets online at http://rescuethebirds.org/content/section/6/32/. Once you have submitted an application and had both a phone interview and home inspection, you will be invited to come meet some of the birds in person.
