My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

GUGI IS BEING FOSTERED IN SAN LEANDRO.

Gugi (pronounced Guji) is approximately 9 months old and currently weighs about 40-45 lbs. Her exact breed is unknown but she won't grow too much more. Gugi has very long legs and a lean body.

Gugi was rescued from Taiwan earlier this year as a young puppy and adopted by a wonderful couple of women who did everything right when it comes to raising a puppy. Gugi has completed obedience classes and has proven to be an extremely fast learner. She knows sit, down, stay, come, heel, leave it, enough, and release. She walks very well on leash. Gugi is housetrained and knows how to use a doggie door (though she may need a refresher course in her new environment) and cratetrained as well.

Gugi is an extremely sweet and gentle dog who knows how to entertain herself and is obsessed with balls. She loves to play fetch--and yes, she'll bring it back to you!-- and must have a ball in her mouth at all times (or so it seems). She is very good with other dogs and loves to play with them. Gugi is active as young dogs tend to be, but not hyper or destructive.

Gugi is loyal to her family and watchful and protective of them, though never aggressive. She is a little shy with strangers but treats will get her to warm up quickly. She is a bit more intimidated by large men and is just wonderful with calm children. Gugi has grown up with a 5-year old boy and other children. Gugi does NOT jump on people nor is she an excessive barker, but she may bark if she hears something strange to alert her family.

Gugi is just a very well-behaved young dog. Very rare is it to see a puppy brought up so conscientiously. She is a "soft" dog so would not do well in a loud environment where there is a lot of yelling going on. She does get carsick so smooth driving and a slightly opened window would be helpful. Her family are heartbroken to have to give her up, but the young grandson has just been diagnosed with severe allergies to dogs.

If you are interested in adopting Gugi, please email your completed Adoption Application. We do request a $250 tax-deductible donation to help cover a portion of each dog's medical and transport expenses. A homecheck will also be required because we do want to be sure that each dog goes to an environment suited to them.
