Some dogs that come to our shelter have never lived in homes before and just need a little extra love & patience from a future family. Mimsy is one of those dogs. Mimsy came to us from the side of a highway on the Navajo Nation, which is where many of our shelter dogs & puppies come from! She's very sweet, but very shutdown here at the shelter. She has likely spent her life outdoors so things like potty training routines, leashes, even food bowls can be scary for her. She will need a very patient foster or adopter to help her gain confidence in becoming a house dog! Mimsy lives with other dogs at the shelter, and can coexist peacefully but does not seek them out for affection or play at this time. So another dog in the home is not mandatory. Because she is fearful of this new life, she is also considered a flight risk. This means you just need to be extra careful! No leaving her alone in a yard, keeping a leash on her, and be careful with any open door/windows/etc. Our team would be happy to walk you through this. Please give Mimsy a chance at the love she so deserves. If you have a calm & loving home, plus the time to work with her. Contact us or meet her at the shelter! Foster interest can email foster@highcountryhumane.org. Located at 11665 N. Highway 89, Flagstaff, AZ 86004. Our shelter is open Thursday–Tuesday, 11 am–5 pm, and closed on Wednesdays.
