Story
We are a matched based adoption agency, if you see a dog in our program in which you are interested in adopting, please fill out our online application at kcpaws.org and one of our adoptions counselors will be in touch once your application has been screened. Please note that we do require dogs to meet all members of the family including existing pets in the home before finalizing during your in home adoption. Aliyah is about 6 years old, spayed, up to date on all vetting, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is Sponsored! Aliyah came to us from a neglect case and has been with a foster to help her come out of her shell. She is used to living with other dogs around her size or smaller. She can be timid meeting new dogs but as long as the dog is friendly and gives her time to adjust she does very well. Aliyah is a very fearful dog when in new situations and meeting new people and can be especially fearful of men. Once she trusts someone she does become very attached but she will need a lot of TLC and patience to trust another new person in a new environment. She can be reactive in moments of fear, or protective of her person with strangers. Aliyah absolutely LOVES walks, stuffed toys, treats, and is affectionate once you've gained her trust. She will need continued training through her trust issues with a confident and patient owner who has experience working with dogs who may have experienced trauma. She is not an appropriate fit for a home with children. The right person will undoubtedly bring out her affectionate and joyful side, it will just take time, patience, and consistent work to get her there.

Story
🐾 Meet Mack — Small Dog, BIG Personality! 🐾 At just 19 pounds, Mack may be a little guy, but he's got enough personality to fill an entire house! This adorable 1-year-old Shiba Inu mix is sweet, spunky, energetic, and ready to make every day an adventure. 🐶❤️ Mack's second chance almost didn't happen. He was at another shelter facing euthanasia when Melissa's Second Chances stepped in to save his life. Now, this lovable little fellow is looking forward to a much brighter future with a family of his very own. And Mack is determined to make the most of it! 🎾 Playtime Is Mack's Favorite Time! Mack is a playful, bouncy boy who loves going for walks, playing fetch, and romping around with his beloved stuffed toys. He's full of youthful enthusiasm and would love a family who enjoys staying active, playing games, and giving him plenty of opportunities to burn off his energy. Our volunteers have had wonderful things to say about Mack, describing him as incredibly sweet, friendly, and an absolute doll! ❤️ He's been doing well on his walks, too! While he sometimes likes to zigzag or walk little figure eights, volunteers have noticed improvement with practice. He's also shown that he can remain comfortable around passing traffic, people, and birds. And did we mention he loves treats? Those should come in handy as he continues learning! 🐕 Making New Friends Mack is reportedly friendly with other dogs! He can be a little overenthusiastic when meeting a new canine buddy, but once that initial excitement settles, he's been known to play nicely. Thoughtful introductions and a compatible playmate will help set him up for success. He's also shown curiosity and excitement around cats at the shelter without displaying aggression during that particular encounter. While that's encouraging, we don't yet know how he'd do living with a feline companion, so his compatibility with cats remains unconfirmed. 🐾 Still Learning His Manners At just a year old, Mack is still figuring out some of the finer points of being a well-mannered gentleman! He can be jumpy and occasionally mouthy when he gets excited during play, but he responds well when redirected to a toy or one of his favorite stuffies. With patience, consistency, and positive-reinforcement training, this clever little guy can continue learning how to channel all that enthusiasm. Because Mack is still working on keeping all four paws on the ground, a home with older children would be the best fit. 💕 A Sweetheart Beneath All That Spunk For all his energy and playful antics, Mack is an incredibly sweet, loving boy. Behind that big personality is a little dog who just wants to feel safe, be loved, and have someone to share life's adventures with. After coming so close to losing his chance at a happy ending, Mack deserves the simple joys of being someone's cherished companion: a cozy bed, a pile of favorite stuffies, neighborhood walks, and a family who can't imagine life without him. 🏡 Mack's Perfect Match Mack would thrive with an active, patient family who appreciates his playful personality and is excited to help him continue learning. He'll need regular exercise, plenty of toys, mental enrichment, and gentle guidance as he settles into home life. Most importantly, he needs people who will love him, give him structure, and make sure his second chance becomes a lifetime of happiness. Mack has already been given a second chance at life. Could you be the one to give him the forever home that makes it all worthwhile? ----------------------------------------- Interested in adopting? Apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt. An approved adoption application is required before a meet-and-greet can be scheduled. Once approved, we'll work with you to determine whether it's a good match. And if it's not, no worries!
