Story
If you’re looking for a dog who can keep up with your adventures, learn new skills, and become your ultimate sidekick, Billie may be your perfect match! Billie is an 8-month-old, 40-pound shepherd mix (with some adorable Basenji-like features) who is full of intelligence, athleticism, and personality. She is ready to find an active family that understands the needs of a young working-breed dog. This girl loves having a job to do. Whether it’s hiking trails, learning new commands, practicing obedience, or joining you on outdoor adventures, Billie thrives when both her mind and body are engaged. She already knows basic commands including sit, down, stay, place, and heel, and she enjoys learning with her people. She has tremendous potential for someone interested in training, dog sports, hiking, or other activities that challenge an intelligent dog.Billie walks nicely on leash when given direction (and when she doesn't get too excited) and loves all things outdoors—especially drinking from the garden hose, chewing on stuffed bones, and crunching ice cubes. She is playful, affectionate, and enjoys being part of the action. Because of her working-breed energy and determination, Billie will do best with an experienced owner who understands that smart dogs need structure, consistency, and ongoing training. She is incredibly clever and resourceful. A securely fenced yard is highly recommended to give her a safe outlet for exercise and play.Billie enjoys people and has done well with the children she has met, but her enthusiasm can lead to jumping when she’s excited. She also enjoys other dogs but tends to play very rough. She would likely do best as the only pet for now while she continues to learn and settles in to her new life.Billie is mostly house trained, spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and ready to start her next chapter. What she needs most is a committed owner who will continue building on her training and give her the structure, exercise, and mental stimulation she craves. Ready to meet this smart, athletic girl?
