Story
Basset Best Buddy was relinquished by no fault of his own. This is a nice boy who is good with other dogs & with people. He is very sweet but would benefit from some basic obedience and confidence building. His birth date is 09/10/24 and he currently weighs 22.4#.He has been vet. checked, neutered, micro chipped, is up to date on routine shots & wormings including rabies, and has been treated with flea & heart worm preventative per our protocol. He has the typical valgus deformity in his front legs. His adoption donation is $800 and needs to be cash, certified check, money order or a debit/credit card. There is a 3% processing fee when using a debit/credit card. Please note that any additional funding collected for this pet goes back into our medical acct. to provide for other dogs in need. Story
Buttercup is a seasoned gal who knows what she likes and what she doesn't! She likes treats, but she does not get excited to go to the vet. She can be temperamental with some vet procedures. She prefers a low key environment where she can rest her bones and not be bothered too much unless you have treats. This gal will do anything for a treat, including bouncing around like a bunny and the perfect basset howl! She can be tempermental, when she does not want to do something that you want her to do, so she will need someone with patience and experience with the breed. But, she is a fast learner. So, if you have the patience to work with her, she will respond to training and consistency. She has some benign lumps and bumps and her tear ducts produce more tears than typical, so she has some staining and weepy eyes that may need further attention at some point. She was surrendered due to nipping a human in the home, so no small children and a very low key home would be best for her to live out her days! She lived with a small dog and during her behavior assessments found she really enjoyed another foster dog named Archie. Archie is a fellow foster mate at the Serenity Pet Spaw foster program! She likes calm pups and prefers small senior dogs and has done well so far with cats, not the biggest fan of puppy’s even though they want to play with those long ears!! She was indifferent with larger pups with lower energy levels. While at Serenity she has made many friends and is doing well, However, it did take roughly 2 months to get her to this point. So we want anyone applying to adopt/foster Buttercup to know that she will need quite a bit of time for adjustment. A meet and greet will only be set up with approved applicants, and you may be asked for meeting a few times as well as any animal in the home to make sure it's a good match for you and for our Buttercup. Although Buttercup requires patience she is a lower energy dog that does not require hours of play time in the backyard and it totally happy to chill.
