Story
York seems to be a very special guy. He will bond to his people very quickly, he is shy around men and takes a little time to warm up. He must have had bad things happen in his past, poor pup. He adores attention and snuggles from his people and is really an all around GOOD BOY! York would do best with kis over 12, since fast movements from younger ones make him a bit jumpy. Who knows what his past was like. York enjoys romps with some dogs but prefers to have all the attention.

Story
Meet Sadie Mae Sadie Mae is as sweet as they come. She is a wonderful little dog who was surrendered for chasing chickens. But for a basset/beagle mix, chasing chickens is just so fun (no chickens were harmed though, but it was more than the fosters could handle!). Sadie is blossoming under the care and love of our staff. She has a ball in the play yard. With her ears flying and her little legs pumping, she gets the silly zoomies for a minute and then settles in and enjoys sniffing. She comes when called and sits so prettily and happily for treats. Sadie is a year to 1.5 years old. She is small/medium in size. She has beautiful markings of deep rust and the sweetest, beagle ears. Sadie Mae is housetrained. Sadie does well with other dogs and was fostered in a home with several dogs. She walks well on a leash. Sadie would be good with kids and would love running around with them and playing. She is such a happy, gentle girl. She also loves to snuggle with her people. We put soft blankets in her kennel and she loves them. We find her wrapped in their warmth and softness sleeping when she’s not out in the yard. She’s happy, friendly, affectionate, fun, silly, and sweet. She is a gem of a dog, absolutely precious. She is going to make for a wonderful addition to any home and family. A fenced yard is a must for Sadie. Her curiosity and zest for chasing landed her in a shelter once and without a family. We will do all we can to make sure that it doesn’t happen again. We’ll test Sadie Mae with cats for potential adopters. This girl is a treat. Get your application in. If interested in welcoming Sadie Mae to your heart and home, please submit an application online at: www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org. Please use the downloadable application found on our homepage. Please email our shelter (smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net) to make sure we received your application. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals.
