Story
About Me: Name: Panda Makita Breed (or best guess): Basset Hound or mix Approximate Age: 1-3 yr Gender: female Approximate Weight: 28 lb Adoption Fee: $495 Requirements: Loving Family, only pet, no children Why In Rescue: Transfer from Texas Rescue Profile:  Panda Makita is a super happy and active Basset Hound mix.  She is hoping to find a family of her own soon!  We don't know about her housetraining as most of the dogs that come to us from Texas spent most of their time outside before getting care for by a rescue group.  Update - now that Makita has been at the shelter for a bit longer, she is starting to react to other dogs, so will be looking for a home as the only pet and well as an adult only home. We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $495 for most adults and up to $650 for puppies which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $100 (up to $260 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $100 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS November 27, 2025, 11:22 pm

🦃 Turkey — The Emotional Support Drumstick(Basset Mix • Velcro Baby • Emotional Support Sausage)Meet Turkey, the 12-week-old Basset Hound mix who arrived with his siblings Ham and Gravy just in time for Thanksgiving… and immediately decided he is the main dish AND the dessert.Turkey is not just affectionate — he is professionally affectionate.A Velcro dog in training, he will glue himself to your lap, shoulder, chest, hair, hoodie, or anywhere else that looks like a suitable cuddle surface. If he could climb back into the womb for warmth, he absolutely would. This boy lives for love.He wants to be held like a baby.He wants to burrow into your blankets. He wants to tuck his giant Basset ears under your chin and melt into a warm little puddle of dog.He is goofy, clumsy, sensitive, silly, and sweet — the emotional support chicken nugget you didn’t know you needed.Turkey is also deeply curious. He must investigate every shadow, corner, sock, and dust particle like it contains the secrets of the universe. He trips over his paws, bumps into things, and then looks at you like,“Did you… see that? I meant to do that.”He’s working on potty training, manners, and all the puppy basics — and while he may not have mastered the rules yet, he HAS mastered cuteness. Which honestly counts for a lot.If you want a puppy who will love you with his whole tiny heart, cuddle like it’s his job, and follow you everywhere like your emotional support Thanksgiving dinner…Turkey is waiting.⸻📌 ADOPTION DETAILS📍 Location: Kenosha, WI🧡 Age: 12 weeks (DOB 9/13/25)✨ Weight: ~10–15 lbs🐾 Breed Guess: Basset Hound mix🚽 Housebroken: No (learning!)🐶 Dog Friendly: Yes🐱 Cat Friendly: Unknown🧒 Kid Friendly: Yes🦮 Leash Trained: No🛏 Crate Trained: No (sleeps in playpen with Ham & Gravy)❤️ Vetting: UTD on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, not neutered💵 Adoption Fee: $500 + $150 neuter deposit👉 Apply to adopt Turkey: www.biggiepawsrescue.orgDATCP # 494550

🐷🥓 Ham — The Only Ham That Won’t Be on Your Table, Just in Your Lap(Basset Mix • Certified Goofball • Served With Turkey & Gravy)Meet Ham, the 12-week-old Basset Hound mix who arrived at Biggie Paws right before Thanksgiving…alongside her equally deliciously named siblings: Turkey and Gravy.Together, the trio is known as “The Holiday Platter.”Separately, Ham has decided she is the star of the meal.(She didn’t choose the name… but she does live up to it. ⭐)Ham may not be glazed, spiral-cut, or honey-baked,but she WILL stick to you like you’re the last dinner roll on the table. She’s got those big, soulful “please-hold-me” eyes and short little legs that say,“I was absolutely NOT built for athletics… but I will try anyway.”She zooms. She flops. She wiggles. She snuggles like she’s trying to fuse into your chest. She trips over her own adorably chunky paws. She’s basically mashed potatoes with legs.Ham loves to follow her humans around, play with her siblings, and investigate every sound, smell, and object like a tiny, clumsy detective. She’s working on potty training, crate training, and all the puppy basics — and she’s trying her hardest, even if she occasionally gets distracted by life… or her own tail.If you want a puppy who is affectionate, hilarious, sweet, and will bring holiday-level joy year-round,Ham is READY to be the main dish in your home.⸻📌 ADOPTION DETAILS📍 Location: Kenosha, WI🧡 Age: 12 weeks (DOB 9/13/25)✨ Weight: ~10–15 lbs🐾 Breed Guess: Basset Hound mix🚽 Housebroken: No (learning!)🐶 Dog Friendly: Yes🐱 Cat Friendly: Unknown🧒 Kid Friendly: Yes🦮 Leash Trained: No🛏 Crate Trained: No (sleeps in playpen with Turkey & Gravy)❤️ Vetting: UTD on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, not spayed💵 Adoption Fee: $500 + $150 spay deposit👉 Apply to adopt Ham: www.biggiepawsrescue.orgDATCP # 494550

🥣✨ Gravy — The Side Dish Who Steals the Whole Show(Basset Mix • Wiggle Monster • Warm, Comforting, and Impossible Not to Love)Meet Gravy, the 12-week-old Basset mix who arrived with her siblings Ham and Turkey, completing what we now call The Holiday Platter Puppies. And just like real gravy…she makes everything better. 🥹💛With her floppy ears, soft tan coat, fancy ombré tail, and those big “love me” eyes, Gravy is basically comfort food in puppy form. Warm, soothing, slightly chaotic, and always exactly what you needed.Gravy is affectionate, playful, and FULL of personality. She snuggles hard, plays harder, snores like a grown man, and dreams like she’s chasing Michelin stars. She’s brave when her big-dog friends are around, goofy when she’s feeling bold, and absolutely melts into you when it’s cuddle time. She’s also… hilariously short.Like, “needs a boost to get on the couch” short.Which makes watching her try to jump to play with bigger dogs pure comedy gold. She’s working hard on potty training and leash manners, sleeps in her foster parents’ bed (elite behavior), relaxes in her crate, and comes when called — especially if snacks or love are involved. And be warned: every time she drinks water, her ears take a bath. It’s adorable. You will scream.Gravy isn’t a huge fan of cold weather, so expect lots of cozy indoor snuggles, dramatic shivers when she steps outside, and a dog who believes blankets were invented specifically for her.Sweet, silly, soft-hearted, and unbelievably endearing —Gravy is the topping that makes life taste better.⸻📌 ADOPTION DETAILS📍 Location: Kenosha, WI🧡 Age: 12 weeks (DOB 9/13/25)✨ Weight: ~15 lbs🐾 Breed Guess: Basset Hound mix🚽 Housebroken: In progress🐶 Dog Friendly: Yes🧒 Kid Friendly: Yes🐱 Cat Friendly: Unknown🦮 Leash Trained: Working on it🛏 Crate Trained: Enjoys crate time but sleeps in foster parents’ bed❤️ Vetting: UTD on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, not spayed💵 Adoption Fee: $500 + $150 spay deposit👉 Apply to adopt Gravy: www.biggiepawsrescue.orgDATCP # 494550
