Story
Basil is a very sweet, affectionate and playful gal. She came into our care when her family was seeing they were not meeting her needs. She enjoys a good lap to sit in, a yard to play in and receiving human attention. In her prior home, she was good with respectful children and other dogs. She does need a household that can keep her beagle genetics from getting her into trouble. She has a nose that will find an open trash can and will chew items like pens and stuffed animals. She is still getting settled into our care here, so we have not yet put her with another dog here. To keep her healthy, the veterinarian does recommend she received a doggy dental, scheduled to be done 12/31. A 5-week Good Manners training course is included in Basil`s $350.00 adoption fee. Please call the Adoption Center at 802-476-3811, or email info@centralvermonthumane.org, to schedule a time to talk to an adoption counselor about her, and to determine if you should meet Basil.

Story
Dusty came to CVHS with his canine family, when his owner was moving and unable to take him along.True to his hound genetics, he can be a vocal boy, and will let you know when he`s ready for a walk, mealtime, or anything he feels you need to know. He is crate trained, and getting the hang of walking well on a leash. He has strong feelings about cats, and cannot live with any felines in his next home. He has a nose that likes to work, and loves to chew on a good toy. He has shown at CVHS, and in his prior home, to be selective with his canine friends, so he may need a home without other dogs. He was previously exposed to older children and did just fine. While with us, Dusty injured his ACL, so he has been on reduced exercise for over a month, and he is healing really well! He needs to go to a home where he can get plenty of exercise, but be contained enough to continue to heal. LOTS of sniffy walks and scent work will keep this boy happy and healthy.A 5-week Good Manners training course is included in Dusty`s $350.00 adoption fee. Please call the Adoption Center at 802-476-3811, or email info@centralvermonthumane.org, to schedule a time to talk to an adoption counselor about him, and to determine if you should meet Dusty.

Story
Luna is an approximately 9 year old small-medium sized dog. She was rescued at 2 years old from a hoarding situation, and taken into the home as the only dog, with no children. She did very well as the only the dog in the home, but does not get along with most dogs, we believe based on her history. She loves to sleep and cuddle, is house trained, and is low energy, requiring a sniff walk or some playing each day. She also responds very well to training, she’s been through 2 professional training courses. After having a child, we have seen Luna became much more anxious and we believe she truly would be better cared for in an environment without children. She is not aggressive toward kids, but she is better served by owners who do not have them. She tends to prefer women, but can live with men.

Story
Meet Stacy: Small Body, Big Heart Say hello to Stacy, a beautiful 1.5-year-old girl who proves that big love really does come in small packages. At just 30 pounds fully grown, Stacy may be petite, but she’s strong, spirited, and full of life. Her journey began as a stray on the streets of Florida, until a kind soul stepped in to help her find safety. Stacy can be a little shy when first meeting new people, but it doesn’t take long for her sweet personality to shine. Once she feels comfortable, she’s all about kisses, belly rubs, and soaking up affection. She’s lightning fast and absolutely *loves* to run, so a fenced yard where she can show off her zoomies would be a dream come true. But she’s not too picky, a living room for zoomies would do just fine! This clever girl is smart and eager to learn. She’s strong for her size and may pull at first on leash, but quickly settles into a nice walking pace and would do great with continued training. She enjoys playtime—especially chasing a ball (returning it is optional, of course!). She’s also got a refined palate and clearly knows what she likes when it comes to food! Stacy is looking for an active, loving home that enjoys her playful energy and is ready to build a bond with her. Stacy will be an incredibly loyal, affectionate companion who just wants someone to call hers. If you’re ready for a fun, fast, loving little sidekick, Stacy is waiting to meet you!
