Story
Alfie is from North Carolina and was taken as a favor for a friend in Rescue. She no longer does rescue and we were told to adopt him out. He is a very energetic dog but is nervous around people he does not know. April 26 he turned 4. He is very attached to his sister Harley who is from the same litter. They have been together all 4 years. He is very strong and active and really more than we can handle with our lifestyle. He spends more time in a crate than we would like. He really needs a more active home. He likes to run so he needs a home with a yard that is enclosed. He is a very friendly once he gets to know you.

Story
Harley comes from North Carolina. She was taken in as a foster from a rescue owned by a friend but the rescue is no longer in business. She was signed over to me to adopt out. She was born April 26 and turned 4 this year. Her and her brother Alfie live together and are very attached to one another. She is a very sweet dog and she loves cats and toys. She is a very happy dog. She is very shy around new people but when she gets to know you she is very sweet. She spends more time in a crate than we would like due to lifestyle and due to them being a little too active for our senior pets. We would love to adopt her out with her brother Alife if possible.

Story
Arriving soon: Wally & Trudy were surrendered to the shelter through no fault of their own when their family had to move to a place that did not welcome dogs. They are a bonded sibling pair who are hoping to be adopted into the same home, having spent their whole nearly-6-year-old lives together. Their father was a Beagle and their mom was a Shih Tzu/Dachshund mix. Both dogs weigh approximately 30 lbs. They are house trained, friendly with adults & kids as well as other dogs, and know some basic commands. They are well behaved when left alone unsupervised at home. True to their Dachshund heritage, they like to dig holes in the yard, and their Beagle heritage shines through as well, as they love to chase wildlife and will also chase cats. While they dislike nail trims, they love exploring outdoors, playing fetch with a ball or toy, enjoy a good chew bone, love to be couch potatoes, and are definitely lap dogs. If you have room in your heart and home for these two sweethearts, they can’t wait to meet you!Approved applicants are welcome to participate in our popular Slumber Party program and take a dog home for up to 2 weeks to make sure he/she is a great fit.  *If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application at www.caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again when you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email us at adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day.We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopters must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.*PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide. If they are incorrect, we will not be able to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone, so advise your references that there may be an unknown or private number calling them. Thank you!

Story
Hi, I’m Bravo, a nice little beagle boy with soulful eyes, a compact 30 pound frame, and the kind of face that makes people stop and say, “Well, aren’t you sweet?” I’m around 2 to 3 years old, which means I’ve got that wonderful mix of playful curiosity and grown up charm. I came in as a stray, and while no one came looking for me, I’m more than ready to start fresh with someone who will be very glad they found me. I love other dogs, and I didn’t mind cats either, so I seem like the kind of fellow who fits in pretty easily. I’ve got that classic beagle appeal, friendly, gentle, and always interested in what’s going on around me. I can picture myself trotting beside you on a walk, checking in with those warm brown eyes, then settling in close when the day is done. If you’ve been hoping for a sweet, easygoing companion with a loving heart and a handsome houndy look, I just might be your boy. Bravo's adoption fee is $275. Story
Hi, I’m Junior, and I’m a cheerful little hound fellow with a big smile, soft beagle eyes, and a serious love for splashing around in the water. Give me a kiddie pool, a tennis ball, or a shady spot on a warm day and I am one happy guy. I’m about 3 years old, 40 pounds, and I’ve got those classic hound features everyone falls for, long ears, a handsome nose, and that sweet face that always looks ready to say hello. I was found as a stray, but I’m much more interested in what comes next than where I’ve been. I’m a friendly boy who tested well with other dogs and I didn’t mind cats during my cat test either. I do very well in a crate and I can occupy myself with plenty of toys around. That easygoing nature could make me a lovely fit for a home that wants a dog with a fun side and a gentle heart. I can picture it already, a nice walk, a cool splash in the yard, then heading inside to relax near my people with that content hound look on my face. If you’ve been hoping for a lovable companion with a small, 10 minute playful need for fetch and an extra dose of charm, I think we should meet. Junior's adoption fee is $275.
