Story
Meet Rocky A Sweet Sheepdog Mix Ready to Find Her Forever Family Breed: Sheepdog Mix Gender: Female | Age: 09/19/2022 Weight: 33 lbs (medium) Good With: Dogs ✔️ | Kids ✔️ | Cats: Unknown Personality: ❤️ Sweet | Social | Loving Medical: ✔️ Spayed | Vaccination Status: Not Provided Location: Los Angeles, California Transportation: Ozzie and Friends Rescue coordinates safe transportation for approved adopters throughout the United States. ❤️ Personality & Breed Information Rocky is a beautiful 4-year-old Sheepdog mix weighing approximately 37 pounds. She is a young adult who lives well with other dogs and is ready for the stability, companionship, and love of a forever family. At four years old, Rocky is at a wonderful stage of life. She's past the puppy years but still young enough to enjoy plenty of walks, playtime, outings, and adventures with her new family. Rocky does well with other dogs and children, while her compatibility with cats is currently unknown. As a Sheepdog mix, Rocky may share some of the characteristics commonly seen in herding breeds. These dogs are often intelligent, loyal, attentive, active, and closely connected to their people. They can enjoy having both physical activity and opportunities to use their minds. Rocky would benefit from: Daily walks and appropriate exercise Interactive play and enrichment Positive-reinforcement training Mental stimulation Consistent household routines Continued positive socialization Plenty of companionship and affection Depending on the type of coat Rocky has inherited, she may also require regular brushing and professional grooming to keep her coat comfortable and healthy. Most importantly, Rocky needs a family prepared to make her a genuine part of their everyday life. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Even though Rocky is already an adult, moving into a new home means learning an entirely new environment, schedule, and set of expectations. Rescue dogs may arrive with basic training at best, so her adopter should be prepared to continue working on leash manners, basic commands, recall, household boundaries, calm greetings, and house training as needed. Because Sheepdog-type dogs can be intelligent and attentive, positive-reinforcement training can provide valuable mental stimulation while helping Rocky build a strong relationship with her new family. The 3-3-3 Rule 3 Days to decompress and begin feeling safe 3 Weeks to understand her new household routine 3 Months to fully settle in, build trust, and feel at home These are guidelines, not deadlines. Rocky should be given the patience and consistency she needs to adjust at her own pace. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Rocky is spayed. Her vaccination and microchip status were not provided. Her future family should review her medical history with their veterinarian and continue routine wellness examinations, vaccinations and boosters as recommended, flea/tick/heartworm and parasite prevention, dental care, quality nutrition, healthy weight management, grooming and nail care, appropriate daily exercise, and veterinary treatment whenever necessary. Regular grooming may be particularly important depending on Rocky's coat type. Her family should establish a brushing and grooming schedule appropriate for her individual coat. Adoption Information If you are interested in adopting Rocky, please complete an adoption application at: https://www.ozzieandfriendsrescue.org/adoptions Ozzie and Friends Rescue is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit dedicated to rescuing dogs in need and helping them find safe, loving forever homes. While based in Southern California, we coordinate safe transportation for approved adopters throughout the United States. Adopting Rocky means committing to her health, training, safety, companionship, grooming needs, and happiness throughout her life. Rocky is four years old with so much life still ahead of her. She's ready to trade uncertainty for routine, temporary places for a permanent home, and waiting for finally belonging. Give Rocky the chance to become part of your family, and she'll have the opportunity to spend all the years ahead exactly where every dog deserves to be—home.September 30, 2026, 4:44 pm
