Story
Meet Kojack! Kojack is a 2 year old German Shepherd/English Mastiff mix, searching for his forever home.Kojack is an exuberant, intelligent young dog who is always ready to play! At first, he was a pretty nervous boy and wasn't sure what to make of all the new faces here at the shelter. As soon as he realized he's in a safe space, he opened up to show off his spirited nature! Since then, he's been all about cuddles, kisses, and playing with his toys.Given Kojack's breeds, he will need a very experienced and strong owner, with a solid understanding of dog training. He is a mixture of high intelligence, stubbornness, and strength. Shepherds need high mental and physical stimulation, and thrive with consistent and structured training. Mastiffs are fiercely loyal dogs, and need adequate socialization in order to have healthy relationships with people and dogs.Kojack has not had much training or socialization so far in his life, so he is still learning his basic commands, leash skills, and how to greet new friends without jumping and getting too excited. Kojack's perfect home would be with a strong, experienced guardian who is home most of the time. He would thrive in a life where he gets a lot of physical activity, a consistent routine, and lots and lots of praise and affection. Story
Meet Chicken! Chicken is a 5 month old German Shepherd mix, searching for his forever home. Chicken is a lively and energetic pup who is always ready for an adventure! With a playful spirit and boundless enthusiasm, Chicken is the perfect companion for an active family looking to add a burst of joy and excitement to their lives. This spirited little pup loves to run, jump, and explore, and he is eager to learn new tricks and games. Chicken is at the age where training and routine are critical, so he needs the consistency, patience and love of his new guardian to show him the ways of developing into a mature and fulfilled adult dog. Adopters are encouraged to attend puppy obedience classes, but the basics are a must - leash training, socializing with people and other dogs, and, of course, house training. Chicken won't be a puppy forever, and as he grows, there are some important things to keep in mind about his breed. Chicken is presumed to be a German Shepherd mix, however we cannot guarantee this is 100% accurate without a DNA test. German Shepherds are intelligent, high energy, working breeds with high needs. They thrive with structure, training, and lots of mental and physical stimulation. It's very important that they are fed nutritious diets and their joints are kept healthy to prevent common health issues like hip dysplasia. So if you're looking for a fun-loving, rambunctious friend to keep you on your toes, Chicken is the perfect match! If you think Chicken could be a good fit for you, please fill out an application below.https://spca.bc.ca/survey/dog-adoption-application-kamloops/*TIP: We encourage all applicants to write a little bit about themselves when prompted. Story
I adopted Rucker as a puppy from the SPCA in Saskatchewan when he was a 3.5 month old puppy. He has travelled with me from Saskatoon to Kamloops and has been with me on every adventure enjoying every bit of this beautiful province together. I am now travelling to New Zealand and was intending on bringing him along with me as well. It is not working out to bring him along with me and I would love to find a new home for him where he can bring a new family as much love and joy as he has brought me for the last 6 years. He is a very friendly and well behaved dog and will bring a smile to everyone's face. He loves being outdoors and being around other people and dogs.
