We don’t know what her life looked like before she came to us, but we do know she has already made wonderful progress.Blossom can still be a little cautious when meeting someone new, so she appreciates people who give her a little time to feel comfortable. Once she realizes she’s safe, her sweet personality begins to shine. She enjoys attention and has gotten along well with other dogs at the shelter.Blossom would love a home where she can settle into a routine, continue building her confidence, and learn that she doesn’t have to be afraid of new experiences. Scott knows “sit,” walks great on a leash, has good recall, and absolutely loves to play fetch. He’s intelligent, eager to learn, and should be a great candidate for continued training with a family who enjoys working with their dog.Scott also gets along well with other dogs and has done well with the respectful children he’s met.Like many dogs in a shelter environment, Scott can show some barrier barking while he’s in his kennel. Don’t let that first impression fool you. Meet Rufus!Rufus is a 7-year-old, 67 lb Black Mouth Cur mix who is ready to spend his golden years knowing exactly where he belongs.This handsome gentleman could stand to gain a little weight, but what Rufus really needs is the security and comfort of a forever home where he never has to wonder what tomorrow will bring.Rufus is the kind of dog who makes being a companion look easy. He’s sweet, gentle, eager to please, and loves spending time with people. He has done great with children and gets along well with other dogs.He also comes with some pretty nice manners. Rufus walks nicely on a leash, knows “sit,” and takes treats gently. At 7 years old, he’s past the puppy stage and ready to settle into a life of leisurely walks, comfortable beds, good meals, and plenty of time with his people.Rufus is also eligible for our Seniors for Seniors Program. Adopters age 65 and older can adopt a senior pet age 7 or older for just $25. The shelter will provide yearly vaccines and heartworm prevention for the pet’s lifetime, as well as end-of-life services when the time comes.Rufus has spent enough time wondering what comes next. April has been raised as an outside “guard” dog her whole life. She has always found joy and happiness in being outside and running around freely. She has not been around farm animals but I do believe she would do great around them if trained properly. She was raised around outside cats, and one other dog and unfortunately that dog has turned aggressive towards her which is why I am rehoming her. She craves a play mate and not having that has taken a toll on her happiness I feel. She is quick to want to play with other animals but would need to be taught boundaries as she is very playful and still young. I believe she would do well around children if taught boundaries. She is a jumper and is full of energy. She is not leash trained fully, but given she is still young and is a VERY fast learner on any task, I believe this will not be an issue in training. She is kennel trained, with a history of no issues. She is food aggressive with animals near her food while she is eating.
