Story
Holmes was brought in when his owner was no longer able to care for him. He and his companions were unfortunately not socialized or given the care they needed. Consequently Holmes will need an adopter with patience and understanding to show him the world is not a big scary place. He does really great with people and other dogs, but everything else is scary and new for him. Despite his isolated start in life, Holmes is surprisingly trusting. He also arrived with a severe skin infection which is now doing great! Holmes is microchipped and current on core vaccines. Sadly, he was heartworm positive when he came in, but will be treated here by our veterinarian. In the meantime, he is available as a foster to adopt. Email reception@hsscg.org for an appointment or more information, or stop in Tuesday through Saturday 11 to 4.

Story
Taboo is a gorgeous boy that is full of life, but due to the lack of human interaction when he was growing up, he is feral. He isn't aggressive any way at all and is quite cute when he sees people he's used to, but he doesn't like to be approached or touched by anyone. In the 6 months since he's been with the rescue, he's come a long way from running and hiding from everyone to now following Heather (rescue owner) and the regular volunteers around when in a group. It's going to take a really special person to be able to adopt and work with Taboo and they will need to be ready for months or longer of patience and taking things slow. He is safe at the rescue until that someone comes for him. In the meantime, he has 2 siblings still at the rescue his possible siblings are Breeze a shy gorgeous girl and his possible brother Buddie who is the most social of the three left with us at the rescue. He has a very shy sibling named Roman who is in foster. If you're interested in any of these babies that came from a disgusting hoarding case, please contact us. Story
Buddie came from a terrible hoarding situation that had around 20 dogs all in various degrees of socialization and temperment. Buddie was the first of the bunch to learn to accept and love the rescuers when they were working to get everyone taken care of. He is a loving boy that needs a home that will be devoted to showing him love and spoiling. He has old healing/healed breaks in his front legs, but he walks only with a slight limp. This doesn't slow him down in the least. He has been around many dogs at the rescue since being brought in and he freely roams the property with no issues. He would make a great companion for someone wanting a gentle dog that wants to hang out on the couch and enjoying restful evenings in the yard playing or watching the night time critters. Buddie can be cat tested upon request. We are a 501c3 non profit rescue.Your information in our application is not shared and is protocol for adoption. Story
Roman has the most gorgeous facial structure! He is definitely a handsome boy that would be a great addition to your home. He came from a horrible hoarding situation that no living creature should have evenr been in but he is safe now. He needs a home where he will be able to relax and enjoy life again. Due to his old circumstances, he would do best with a family that is willing to work with him and gain his trust. HE is not aggressive, but he is shy with new people. He needs a lot of love and reassurance so he can trust again. Once he is able to trust, he is going to be the best companion dog to a person or family. She's also good with other dogs here at the shelter, so bring yours over for a meet-and-greet! Cats aren't her thing, so she needs a home without them. She's about 6 years old and loves to play tug-of-war. She's already spayed, microchipped and up to date on her shots -- ready and eager to be your best friend forever. Please come on over and meet our shining Star!

Not good with kids, Not good with cats, Needs special attention, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Handsome Koa is a German Shepherd mix who has made substantial progress toward overcoming earlier trauma in his life, and needs a patient owner who can help him feel safe and loved. He came to us in a mass rescue of German Shepherd dogs from a Georgia cruelty/hoarding case. Terrified when he arrived, he benefited greatly from a foster family who helped him fight his fears. Our staff describes his personality now as shy and reserved, and we think he'd do better in a quiet home environment away from the unavoidable stress of a shelter. They say he's "super-housetrained" and does well on his walks; if you have a dog, please bring them over for a meet-and-greet. He's about 7 years old, with a cream-colored coat. He's also neutered, microchipped and up to date on his shots. If you're an understanding "dog person" with the time and love to help Koa become the best dog he can be, please come meet him and let our staff tell you all about him, or call us at 904-321-1647 for more information. Koa will love you for it.
