Story
Located in the Western NE/WY/CO area20 months approxGerman Shepherd DogWould do best with older children with dog manners or no children ( , )Dog friendly Cat friendlyHouse trainedKnows some commands & will go in a crate with a treat. She is incredibly eager to learnWants to be around her people… all the timeCorrectly wary of strangers, as is typical to the breed Learning to play & retrieveLoves to cuddle on the bed, so much it is a that she be allowed on the bedFantastic for nail trimsLeash trainedDoes well in the carLikes to be left alone when eating, she doesn’t share food ( )  Fully vetted55lbs approx (should be 60ish) Vera had a very rough first year and a half of life. She is an amazing testament to how resilent dogs can be. Very spent her first year rotating between a pen and a kennel with little to no human interaction. Since being rescued however she has fully embraced spoiled indoor dog life. During her time in rescue we have had the honor of watching her blossom and learn to dog.  Vera is a wonderful example of what a GSD should be.  She’s extremely loyal, loving and constantly seeks or wants to be with her human.  She’s  protective of those in her care. She is correctly wary of strangers(GSDs are Not Labs/Goldens). Like a typical GSD Vera is a serious girl. She likes tasks, including monitoring out the window watching for any concerns. She is quick to learn and enjoys positive reinforcement time for training. She does sometimes let some silliness seep through, but she is not a dog that would ever be described as “goofy.”  As mentioned above Vera is learning to dog and part of that is learning to play. She enjoys playing with her fosters younger male dogs. Her foster also has older male dogs who Vera just doesn’t play with, so she does recognize social cues. Vera considers herself top dog and can be incredibly bossy, so she would do best with submissive dogs. She is a rough player so that is something to keep in mind. This sweet girl has a medium activity level would love to go on outdoor adventures. She is incredibly regal and truly captivating. She moves like a dream and has good confirmation. She has a small crook in her tail that makes her even more endearing. She has medium prey drive but does well with cats.  Vera appreciates very, slow introductions to new people, preferably with yummy treats involved.  The approach should be to let Vera go to new people, don’t let new people crowd or force themselves on her.  Vera also appreciates being left alone to eat.  She would prefer if you don’t stick your hand in her bowl or let other dogs near her when she’s eating. This is just proper doggie etiquette but one she will enforce.  Vera is working on putting on a little weight so the opportunity to eat three meals a day would be great until she gets into a maintenance phase. Vera is just a special, lovely girl that is going to give 100% of herself to you once she knows she can trust and love you.  She deserves the most loving and caring home and we are determined to find that Furever home for her.   If you think that Vera may be a great fit for your home please contact us!  $.  ( 5013 . , ' .) means, altered, up to date on vaccines, HW tested if applicable and on flea/tick preventative (chemical or natural, aka no buggies)  , .
