Other:&#226&#128&#175Spayed Female, Vaccinations current, Microchip, No apartments, No cats   Fleetfoot is such a happy girl!   Foster Home Feedback  ** Apartments not recommended due to her loud bark ** No Cats 03/05/2024 Foster Feedback: Here are some reasons why Fleetfoot (we call her Maggie) would be a great dog for you: She is potty trained and will go to the door when she wants to go out. After a period of adjustment, she has really come out of her shell and adjusted well to our family. She sleeps through the night and is as quiet as a mouse. She sleeps on a couch usually but the times that I have put her in her kennel for an extended time, she will stay quiet in there as well.  She enjoys playing with the other dogs in the home. She's young, so she has more energy than they do, but she has no problem playing with a toy by herself as well. She still loves playing tug-of-war and does really good with fetch; she returns it but doesn't always want to drop it so you just have to have 2 toys that you keep throwing. She has learned to understand cues that the other dogs give her. If they want to be left alone and bark or snarl at her, she'll leave them alone. We have a resident "grump" who usually wants to be left alone but this morning I caught Fleetfoot licking her face so they are definitely warming up to each other! Fleetfoot enjoys car rides and prefers to have a window open so she can check out the world outside of her house. She LOVES going on walks.....sniff walks that is. She has her nose to the ground for most of the walk but that helps stimulate her mentally so it's all good. She does well free roaming in my house when I'm not home. While she has chewed on some shoe laces, but not the shoes; that is the extent of her chewing. She likes everyone - adults, kids, female, male.....she's not fussy.  Just be sure to greet her when you come over. She takes treats (loves green beans) from your hand every so gently. Fleetfoot would LOVE to find her FUREVER home so please consider meeting her to see if she would fit in your home.  12/02/23 Foster Feedback:  Hi, my name is Fleetfoot but my foster mom is calling me Maggie Mae and I have grown to love it.   I am such a good girl and I hear it all of the time!  I love getting pets and rubs all over my body and while I do enjoy cuddling next to you on the couch, there are times that I'm happy just being by myself too.  I love playing outside and one of my favorite things to do is to fetch a toy.  I am working on the "Drop" command but it's hard to remember to drop the toy so I can chase it again because I really like playing tug of war too!  While I am still working on that command, I have learned the "sit" and "down" command and I do really well when my name is called.  Sometimes I play outside with the neighborhood kids and they love me.   I like eating snow and ice cubes! I enjoy going on walks and I do pretty darn good, if I do say so myself!  I do pull on the leash a little bit but I'm working on that. I like to walk a couple of steps in front of my foster mom to make sure it is safe for her to follow.   I am very interested in other dogs and people and I tend to bark, but it's only because I either want them to come over and pet me or I'm looking for a play date.  I don't mean any harm by it.  I love going for car rides; I usually lay down in the back seat quietly.  If it's not too cold outside, I love having a window partly down sometimes, so I can stick my head out and smell everything around me.   At night time, my foster mom lets me lay next to her in the bed.  I might start off there but I usually end up on the floor or on the couch in the next room.  I don't ever wake her up in the morning.  I let her do that so she can feel like she's in charge. When she leaves the house, she throws some treats in my kennel and I willingly go in and lay down.  I'm quiet as a mouse when I'm in there; actually quieter than if she had left me outside of the kennel so it's a win win for both of us; I get to rest in my safe place while she's gone and she gets an untouched house when she returns. I hope you'll take the time to meet me soon!  I'm hoping that my furever family is out there looking for me right now so I can spend the holidays with you! Woof (Sincerely), Maggie Mae (Fleetfoot) 10/28/23 Foster Feedback: Do want a dog with personality?  Fleetfoot is for you! Fleetfoot has been with me for a few months. She has lots of energy and loves to play fetch with anything - a ball, a stick, it doesn't matter. Looking out the window is a favorite pastime. She likes to hide her bones EVERYWHERE! She gets along with other dogs but isn't good with cats. She goes in her crate fine but takes a few minutes to calm down. Fleetfoot is still working on potty training but she will let you know when she needs to go out. We are working on our walks, she pulls a little at first but then settles down. She is not a resource guarder but has been known to steal a treat or two. She hasn't shown aggression toward children, but they might be startled or knocked over by her exuberance. If you have experience with German shepherds this is the dog for you! She is very sweet but she is very very active. To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org May 2, 2024, 8:56 pm

She lives with our two Boston Terriers and Rottweiler. Her and her Rottweiler friend are best buds and they play nonstop! She is not food or toy aggressive, she takes food and treats very ladylike. Melina is also good with cats, she currently lives with three. She is nice to them, but sometimes tries to play with them as if they were dogs. She will chase, but not harm them. She is 90% potty trained, she does very well if she has frequent potty breaks, but sometimes she is too focused on playing with her friends and forgets why she is out there to begin with! Melina is perfect in the kennel; she would rather be out with her friends, though. She knows basic commands, but would benefit very much from obedience classes, as she can be a bit jumpy. With a little work and patience, she will be a perfect companion in any household.   **  Melina is lyme positive. This is a tick-borne illness, and s/he is currently being treated with Doxycycline.  To learn more about Lyme disease in dogs, read here: http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?c=2+2102&aid=458To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org May 2, 2024, 8:56 pm

This girl took zero time getting acclimated to living in a home; still no accidents! She likes to give hugs & kisses, which does mean she can be a bit jumpy, but I wouldn’t say she’s obnoxious about it. She loves belly rubs & has super soft ears. Sakari very much enjoys having a dog companion, although she is fine as a solo dog also. She does seem to prefer having a human next to her during mealtimes, adding some pumpkin or other topper to her kibble has been a big help. She always looks forward to being brushed; she has learned what the brush is & will sit nicely for you. Sakari is not very fond of new humans on her home turf, so this is something we have been working on. She is great meeting people elsewhere & does very well meeting new dogs at my home, although she may bark at the dog’s owner for a few minutes until she is too busy playing with her new doggie friend. It has made a big difference meeting new people outside in the yard with some string cheese, but it does take her a bit to warm up to new people in her safe space. She is not aggressive but will let you know she is uncomfortable. She still loves her walks! She doesn’t take much interest in smaller birds but gets very excited when she spies geese. How can you look into Sakari’s beautiful smoky eyes & not want to adopt? 3/14/24 Foster Feedback: Sakari is REALLY loving the weather & luckily I work from home so she can spend hours & hours outside. She seems to have learned her name, although she will still ignore me if she’s having too much fun outside! She is very curious about the vacuum & does not seem to mind it. Sakari recently attended her very first adoption event & did fantastic! She was a very good girl, only barked once. She was really great with the kids she met, although at home she can be a bit rambunctious when playing so this is something to keep in mind with smaller kids. Sakari can sometimes be nervous with males she meets; this is not always the case & with a little time, space & cheese she learns to overcome her fears. She has never shown aggression but will bark & growl to show she is nervous. She is a fabulous house dog; still no accidents, sleeps through the night, doesn’t get into anything at all. She is not fond of the kennel, so I have been leaving her to free roam when I leave the house & she lays quietly on the couch until I return. Sakari has quite the sniffer & has found mice several times on our evening walks, but she will let me dig them out of her mouth (reluctantly). Sakari is an excellent guard dog! Rest assured, no one will enter your home or yard without you knowing about it. She does bark at humans she spies in the neighborhood but rarely barks at dogs. I dog sat for another dog for about a week & Sakari really enjoyed having a friend; she gained some confidence & came out of her shell. She was very playful (maybe a bit too much for the other dog, who is older) & still needs to learn to read cues when playing with other dogs. She did not resource guard with food, treats or toys but did show some jealousy when I paid attention to him. I left both dogs out when I left the house with no issues. Sakari is such a great girl & I have truly enjoyed fostering her. She would make a great addition to your home! 2/28/24 Foster Feedback: I’ve had Miss Sakari for 3 weeks now & what a fabulous girl! She has adjusted to home life very well with zero accidents! I have been free feeding her, which has been working well. She is a bit of a Velcro dog in that she sticks close to her humans. She sleeps with me like a champ, even letting me sleep in on weekends. Her absolute favorite activity is going on walks; I work from home, so this allows me to walk her 2-3 times a day. She also really loves being outside & has been sunning on the deck or running through the snow. She has been known to snack on (white) snow. Her favorite treats are kongs with frozen peanut butter, string cheese & hot dogs. She is not very keen on being kenneled; however, she will just hang out without getting into anything if I leave the house & do not kennel her. She has not touched anything other than her own toys & treats; what a good girl! She can at times get mouthy, however she will redirect immediately even without a toy distraction. She has excellent response to a "no" command. She has been cat tested & dog savvy cats only for her; she didn’t seem very interested unless the cat was active, so a cat who can fend off unwanted dog behavior would be a necessity. She is not real interested in the neighbor dogs & isn’t a fan of hyper or extremely barky dogs.  Sakari is dog friendly & does like to play but seems to prefer more mellow dog friends. She will bark at humans more than dogs. She needs a very strong hand on walks as bunnies & mice are extremely attractive & she will go after them with all her strength; this also makes her a flight risk, so a double leash (leash on both collar & harness) is recommended. She knows how her harness goes on & will help! Sakari has decided she enjoys being brushed! This is a good thing being she has a lot of fur! She seems to prefer chewy to crunchy snacks. Sakari likes to give hugs! She will jump on you to give you hugs & kisses but isn’t an excited jumper. She does get nervous & guarded with people coming into my home, but not aggressive; this is manageable by walking her around on a leash with cheese as a distraction for a few minutes until she realizes the new people are friends not foes. I also have had her meet new people outside & she is just fine, as she is going to other homes for a visit. Sakari is such a good girl! She will be a great addition to your home!   2/2/24 Volunteer Feedback: Sakari here! I am a short and stout bundle of love. Once I know you, you are my favorite people. I come running to greet you and give you hugs. I get a giant smile on my face, because I am so happy to see you. I've been told my smile is contagious.   I know how to sit and shake. I have been told I'm an excellent walker who loves to sniff and take in the whole walk. I love to snuggle right on top of you. I definitely think I'm a lap dog. My favorite pastimes are chewing on toys and playing fetch, I will bring the ball back, just not always to you. I'm working on that.  It's hard not to fall in love with me. I'm a catch! To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org May 2, 2024, 8:56 pm
