Story
🎶 BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. 🎶 📍 Location: Skiatook, OK -Adopters will need to come pick up their new furry family member themselves. While Cicada may have strong woodland cryptid energy, she unfortunately does not teleport, hitchhike, fly, or qualify for free two-day shipping through Amazon Prime. 🐾 Apply here: https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app No, your trees aren’t screaming… that’s just Cicada making her grand entrance into society. Thankfully, unlike the actual bugs, she’s significantly cuter, far less crunchy, considerably less committed to screaming at full volume for 14 straight hours, and she probably won’t kamikaze directly into your forehead while you’re carrying groceries. She’s also much more welcome on your porch than the flying tax-auditors of summer nightmares we all know and fear. Cicada is a calm, quiet little puppy with the sweetest, gentlest soul. She’s the kind of puppy who melts into your lap like she was personally designed to lower blood pressure. She’s affectionate, easygoing, and perfectly content soaking up attention, snuggles, and cozy nap time beside her people. Cicada is a 6-week-old, 4-pound female Appalachian Porch Shepherd mix — a very rare and highly scientific breed combination known for producing tiny fuzzy creatures that stare into your soul while waddling dramatically across the kitchen floor. Experts also suspect she may contain traces of Husky, German Shepherd, Australian Cattle Dog, and Border Collie. Mama Crickette came to us after someone discovered she had apparently chosen inside a sofa as the ideal location to raise her tiny woodland children. Once the family made their way to the shelter, they officially joined our fluffy butt family where they could begin their journey toward indoor princess status. Now as for dad? Well… much like a man with a guitar and commitment issues, he appears to have vanished into the night after contributing his genetics and absolutely no forwarding address. Based on the puppies, we suspect Mama Crickette is likely a German Shepherd/Husky mix and she’s only around 49 pounds herself. We also don’t believe dad was very large, so our best completely unlicensed estimate is that Cicada will probably end up somewhere around 50–60 pounds full grown Or 45. Or 70. Genetics are basically witchcraft and these puppies did not provide us with a customer service hotline. The exciting part though? Cicada likely won’t be your standard issue “small polar bear disguised as a dog.” So if you’ve always loved fluffy rescue dogs but quietly panicked at the idea of owning something roughly the size of a compact refrigerator… congratulations. This may be your moment. Cicada absolutely loves other dogs and has been having the time of her tiny little life wrestling around with her littermates and hanging out with the foster family’s Pomeranian, Tallulah. Honestly, watching them together looks less like “dog play” and more like a tiny woodland council meeting where everyone collectively shares one brain cell. She’s playful, social, and already learning important puppy skills like “how to dramatically pounce sideways for absolutely no reason.” She has not yet been introduced to cats because, quite frankly, she is still the approximate size and emotional stability of a warm potato. As for kids? Cicada is fully convinced children were invented specifically to provide her with attention, cuddles, and an endless supply of tiny hands to pet her. She loves people and happily accepts affection from basically everyone she meets like a tiny fuzzy celebrity working the crowd at a meet-and-greet. She has a very sweet, gentle nature and genuinely enjoys being included in the action instead of acting shy or reserved. Right now Cicada’s energy level is sitting at about a 3 out of 10, which means she enjoys little bursts of puppy playtime followed immediately by dramatic recovery naps like she just finished a double shift at the biscuit factory. Cicada is truly one of those soft, gentle little souls that makes you instinctively lower your voice around her. She’s calm, quiet, affectionate, and perfectly content soaking up cuddles and attention from her people. She has a very easygoing personality and carries herself with the emotional energy of a warm weighted blanket. She’s happy to be loved on, happy to curl up beside you, and happy to simply exist nearby looking adorable while contributing absolutely nothing to household productivity. Honestly, her biggest talent right now may just be convincing humans to stop whatever they’re doing to hold her like a tiny baby forever. Now of course, as adorable and sweet as Cicada is, she is still very much a baby puppy. Which means her future family will need to continue working on all the important puppy basics like potty training, leash training, socialization, basic manners, and general “please don’t lick electrical outlets or eat mystery yard items” life skills. Socialization will also be especially important so she can continue growing into a confident, well-rounded dog. The good news is Cicada already comes preloaded with the “I love people” software update, so she’s off to an excellent start. Basically, she’s the perfect combination of sweet baby angel and tiny developing woodland creature. You’ll just need to help guide her toward using her powers for good instead of crimes. If you think Cicada might be your perfect match, you’ll need to fill out an adoption application so we can send it along to her foster family for review. Please remember: commenting “mine,” “OMG,” “I wish,” or “sending telepathic vibes” does not actually count as an application, despite what the internet seems to believe. And yes, you will need to pick her up in Skiatook, OK. Cicada does not ship herself through Amazon Prime, emerge from the trees at your local park, or hitchhike her way to your house on the back of a migrating goose. She is a classy little lady and expects proper transportation arrangements. 🐾
