Story
...Vayla may look familiar to some of our longtime supporters. Formerly known as Viva, she was previously adopted from TCAS and recently returned to our care after her most recent home was no longer available.Vayla was spayed during her previous stay at the shelter and is ready to go home right now!Vayla currently weighs about 55 pounds and has settled back into shelter life with the same sweet personality that helped her find a home the first time around. Her previous family shared that she is potty trained, great with kids, knows commands, is very obedient, and does well with other dogs. While we have not been able to independently verify those claims during her current stay, we wanted to pass along the information they shared with us.What we can tell you is that Vayla is a friendly, lovable dog who enjoys spending time with people and has already won over plenty of staff and volunteers. She has the kind of face that makes you stop and say hello, and the kind of personality that makes you want to stay awhile. For us, Vayla`s history with other dogs or cats is unknown. Meet and greets are required with any dogs currently living in the home prior to adoption.Vayla`s adoption fee is $50. She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and treated for fleas, ticks, and worms. Our shelter operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Holds, deposits, and pre-adoptions are not allowed. Animals may transfer to other shelters or rescues at any time.Vayla has already had a home once before. We`d love to see her find her next one soon. Come meet her today!

...Honey was recently surrendered to us when her previous home was no longer available. She is spayed and ready to go home today! At 53 pounds, Honey is the perfect blend of beauty, brains, and athleticism. As sweet as her name suggests, Honey has already made a wonderful impression on staff. She walks like a dream on a leash, knows commands like sit, shake, and lay down, and carries herself with a graceful confidence that`s hard to miss. Whether she`s exploring outside or posing for the camera, this girl somehow manages to look absolutely majestic from every angle. We believe Honey is a Belgian Malinois mix, a breed known for its intelligence, loyalty, and eagerness to learn. Mals thrive when they have both physical exercise and mental enrichment, and they love having a job to do. While we`re still getting to know Honey`s individual personality, she`s already shown us that she`s attentive, food motivated, and enjoys working alongside her people—all wonderful qualities for continued training and bonding.Honey seems happiest when she`s out spending time with people, and it`s easy to picture her joining someone on walks, hikes, training sessions, or simply being an active companion through everyday life. We`re excited to continue learning more about her as she settles in.Because Honey was surrendered to the shelter, her history with other dogs or cats is unknown. Meet and greets are required with any dogs currently in the home prior to adoption.Honey`s adoption fee is $50. She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and treated for fleas, ticks, and worms. Our shelter operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Holds, deposits, and pre-adoptions are not allowed. Animals may transfer to other shelters or rescues at any time.Come meet Honey and see if this sweet, stunning girl is the perfect match for your family!

Story
...Mufasa has had quite the journey before arriving at our shelter. He was originally found on the highway somewhere between here and Yakima by a community member who brought him into the Tri-Cities area. Because he was found outside of our jurisdiction, we were unable to intake him and advised they contact shelters or rescues in the area where he was found as the best way to help reunite him with his owner.Instead, Mufasa was left at Lawrence Scott Park in Kennewick, where concerned witnesses contacted Animal Control. Our officers responded, safely retrieved him, and brought him to our facility, where he has been ever since. Situations like this are a good reminder that contacting the appropriate local Animal Control agency where an animal is found gives them the best chance of making it back home. After spending time with him, one thing is clear—Mufasa is a solid dog. He’s confident, smart, and very aware of himself… and honestly, he knows he’s handsome. At around 65 pounds, this German Shepherd mix (with what we suspect may be a little Chow Chow—hello black tongue spot and jowls) is as photogenic as they come. The camera loves him, and he absolutely works it. Mufasa already knows “sit,” “shake,” and “lay down,” walks beautifully on a leash, and is eager to engage with his handler. He gives off strong “trained but needs direction” energy—the kind of dog who will thrive with someone who enjoys working with their dog and continuing that foundation. He’s still young, playful, and full of energy, and would make an incredible adventure buddy for someone with an active lifestyle. Mufasa will need both mental and physical outlets to keep him balanced and prevent boredom, but he has all the building blocks to be an amazing companion. While he’s generally an angel out on walks, he makes it very clear that he does not enjoy going back to his kennel—who could blame him? He will negotiate for a few extra treats before agreeing to head back inside, which just tells us he’s more than ready to leave shelter life behind. His history with other dogs or cats is unknown.Mufasa’s adoption fee is $50. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and treated for fleas, ticks, and worms. Our shelter operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Holds, deposits, and pre-adoptions are not allowed. Animals may transfer to other shelters or rescues at any time. For questions or to check his availabili
