Story
Meet Spot! Spot is an 11-month-old, 17-pound Bernedoodle (though he takes on more of the poodle look and personality!). Spot is learning what it means to feel safe, loved, and cared for. He got his name because he has a very obvious spot on the side of his body that makes him extra special. His superpowers include his gentle nature, his ability to stay very still and cooperative during grooming and nail trims, and his strong bond with other dogs. During baths, he may try to get out of the water, but he does not yell or bark and does well when reassured and comforted. He is still unsure about new situations, lots of people, and having a leash around his neck. Often, he will appear very shaky, but once he realizes he is safe, he will calm down. It will take him a while to decompress in his new home, but please give him the grace that he deserves. Once he feels safe, his personality will shine. When he first arrived, he did not understand the leash and was very reactive, but after a few days, he began to learn that it isn’t scary or harmful. He recently learned to go up and down the stairs on his own for the first time; this was huge progress! He loves having a person of his own. It takes a few days for Spot to warm up, but once he chooses his person, his confidence grows significantly. He also finds great comfort in other dogs and does best when he is not alone. In terms of house training, we are working on it! He does bark in his crate when he needs to go out. And now that he can go up and down the stairs independently, he is more willing to go outside to go potty. We are working with him and have full confidence that he will be potty trained soon. Spot does best when crated with another dog for comfort, as he experiences stress when crated alone. His first night alone, he barked throughout the night, but when placed in a crate with another dog, he settled and slept calmly. He continues to adjust to routines in foster care, though now he is crated by himself and does much better. Some of his favorite things are other dogs, cozy sweaters, gentle reassurance, and toys that crinkle or squeak. He is just learning how to play and is beginning to show interest in chasing balls. He has shown no aggression and is the sweetest, though anxious, soul. If you’re looking for a young dog who thrives with canine companionship and needs a patient, understanding home to help him continue building confidence, he might be your perfect match! Spot could be the perfect addition to your family. Spot is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. His adoption fee is $450.00. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
