Story
Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 1/5/2024 Reason for being in rescue: Amish breeder release/retiring Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Alaina is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Alaina is extremely shy. Weight: 10 lbs Height: 9 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $329 Fence needed? Yes - Alaina should be considered a very high flight risk.  She will only be adopted to a home with a secure 3' or higher physical fence.   What kind of home would be best for me? Alaina is a beautiful nine-year-old Bichon Frise who is looking for her first forever home. She needs an adopter who can provide her with all the love and caring she has never received as she is a breeder release. Being a breeder release she has never known the caring touch of a loving human. She will need a special adopter who has an inexhaustible amount of time, patience, and love to allow Alaina to become a dog and the beloved pet we all know she can be. We do our best here to love on her, but she needs her own human to be home with her all, or nearly all day, providing her the love, affection and training she needs. Alaina is an indoor dog only. A home with another dog is a must. Alaina needs another dog to follow and learn from.  Being by herself without a canine buddy would throw her into chaos.  With a confident buddy, she will not only learn from you but your dog as well on how to become a dog a loving life-long companion. Alaina is also considered a high flight risk. She will only be adopted to a home with a secure 3' or higher physical fence.  What is my personality like? Alaina was born on a farm in Ohio. She has never lived in a home and would like to learn how to be a pet. When our site mentions breeder release, we want our adopters and supporters to know that this dog will require extra care transitioning to your home. Please know this is a rehabilitation process for the dog. It is a commitment to showing the dog how to be social, build trust, house training, and social anxiety. Many people use these phrases to describe the rehabilitation process as watching a dog 'blooming' or 'coming out of their shell'. It is a highly rewarding process for you and the dog.  Alaina picks her people and she loves her current caregiver. For new people, when you spend time with her you can see that she is desperately trying to overcome her fears as she longs for a loving relationship. On first meeting she will shy away from you. After a few minutes there's a good chance she will approach but keep her distance. As she's doing this you can't help not noticing her tiny butt wiggling as her tail wags.  For her main caregiver, she will go to her and be picked up.  She does not want to be chased and picked up but she comes to her caregiver to go into her crate at night time.  She loves playing with other dogs and will change the whole mood with other dogs with her happy go lucky demeanor.  She is clean in her crate and loves toy footballs.  A fenced in yard is a must along with a few other dogs.  she would be very happy as a member of a 4+ dog pack.   How do I act when I first meet new people? Alaina is extremely afraid of everything as she never felt the loving touch of a human before coming to CPR.  She is not going to come to you or even remotely pay attention to you.  You're going to have to love Alaina before she loves you.   Other tips and tidbits: Our vet estimates Alaina was born on 2/27/2015.  Alaina has not met a cat.  We think she would be just fine with them.   House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. April 16, 2024, 8:57 am

Please read ALL of Cosmo's listing prior to asking questions. If you are interested in Cosmo and feel that you will be a good match for him, you must first fill out an application here (please copy and paste the following link): https://foreverhomek9rescue.org/adoption-application/ After we receive your application, we will contact you... thank you! Meet Cosmo... a beautiful 3 1/2-year-old Bichon Frise who is now looking for his forever home. Unfortunately, his previous family could not be home enough to provide him the attention and exercise this high-energy boy needs. Cosmo is a big boy... he weighs about 21-lbs. We are looking for a family for him who is very active and will take him for long walks and on new adventures. A fenced yard will also be helpful in helping him expel all his puppy energy. Cosmo is housetrained and crate trained, although he really doesn't like his crate. At times he can be stubborn, but he generally wants to please and is very treat-motivated. Cosmo has received training at Highland Canine Training... he has learned how to walk well on a leash, and basic obedience training. Cosmo is neutered, current on his Distemper/Parvo and Rabies vaccines, tested negative for Heartworms, and is microchipped. Pretzel's adoption fee is $450.00 Cosmo is a loving, active, and smart boy who deserves an active home and family! If you feel that Cosmo would be a good match for your family, please submit an application by going to: https://foreverhomek9rescue.org/adoption-application/ (cut and paste). Forever Home Canine Rescue offers a three-week trial period with all of our adoptions, just to be sure that the pet is a good match for the adopting family. The fee is refunded if the adoption does not work out within the trial period. We want to be sure that each of our pets will have their perfect 'forever' home! Although Forever Home Canine Rescue adopts out-of-state, we never ship or transport our pets. An approved adopter must come to North Carolina to meet their new canine companion and then take him/her back home with them.
