Story
Meet Hutch! This four-year-old coonhound is 65-pounds of pure love! Hutch is one dapper dude who is ready for all the affection and adventure you have to share with him! True to his breed, Hutch is built to explore. He's a very inquisitive guy and loves being outside where he can follow his nose wherever it may take him. A yard with a TALL FENCE is a requirement for this curious boy to keep him safe. Hutch is a spirited guy who is always up for a game of fetch! He does the cutest bouncy pounce when he wants to play. Hutch is a lively, social pup who loves running the fence and playing with his fellow fur friends at the kennel. Can't think of anything more fun than hanging with this bubby boy! After cruising the yard, Hutch is always up for a cuddle. When hanging with him in his kennel, he loves to bury his head in your lap to maximize his snuggle experience. He gives the best hugs!! Dogs like Hutch aren't meant for the kennel! They need companionship and adventure! Hutch will make the most loving and loyal pal. Based on our evaluation, we feel Hutch would do well in a home with adults or families with kids ages five and up. He may have the ability to live with other dogs as he plays very well with them at the kennel. We are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. If you think Hutch could be the pup you've been searching for, please visit greatlakesdogrescue.com to submit an application for the cuddly coonhound!

Story
Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Beatrice. She was one of 12 puppies born in a home to Mommy Princess in North Bay. Mommy and her litter and 19 other hounds were confiscated from their home and surrendered to the Humane Society. Barks and Meows Rescue took Mommy Princess as well as Charlotte and her sister Beatrice. Beatrice is a leader, not a follower. Beatrice is the alpha of the two sisters. She is extremely affectionate and listens quite well for a hound. She is very food-focused and motivated making positive reinforcement training easy. They have other dogs in their foster home to play with and will do so regularly. They are now housebroken but will use pee pads if the door is not available. They both love to be outdoors, playing with toys, chasing each other, and chewing on sticks. Offering them food will have them both coming running in when it's time. Beatrice is learning to climb as per her breed mix so will now sleep on her foster parent's bed at night. She loves to cuddle on the couch and chair with her family members or other dogs. She is fed three times daily, in her crate, Royal Canin Medium Breed Puppy Food. Beatrice is sweet and loving. She is about 4 pounds less than her sister and not as tall. Mommy Princess is 55lbs so we expect these girls to be medium size dogs when fully grown. They have both had all three sets of vaccines and been dewormed. Beatrice is being spayed and has had her small umbilical hernia repaired. The sisters are both on Heartworm/flea/tick prevention during the season. Both girls love to be held and cuddled. The ideal home for them is a family that has or has had hounds in the past. This breed is not for everyone as they can never be off-leash unless in a fully fenced yard with the correct height. They are pure hounds so will follow their nose. Going for hikes and walks each time will be an adventure as they will stop to smell everything. A cat-free home is mandatory as they will have a very high prey drive. A fully fenced yard (wooden, not chain-link), another resident dog, and a Veterinarian History of Compliance is mandatory to apply for darling Beatrice. They will not be adopted out together. We do not adopt to families with children under the age of 6.

They both love to be outdoors, playing with toys, chasing each other, and chewing on sticks. Offering them food will have them both coming running in when it's time. Charlotte is a big climber. She is taller than her sister so has no problem just hopping on a couch or chair with ease. She has learned jumping on and off the bed is lots of fun. Charlotte loves to cuddle on the couch and chair with her family members or other dogs. She is fed three times daily, in her crate, Royal Canin Medium Breed Puppy Food. Charlotte is sweet and loving. She is about 4 pounds heavier than her sister quite a bit taller. Charlotte looks very much like her Mom, sometimes it's hard to tell them apart, other than their current size. Mommy Princess is 55lbs so we expect these girls to be medium size dogs when fully grown. They have both had all three sets of vaccines and been dewormed. Charlotte is now spayed. Mommy Princess continued to be a wonderful mom to Beatrice and Charlotte once she entered foster care. She protected them until she felt all was safe. Once a day, her babes will come over and lick and cuddle her but then are off to play with others. Princess is a very low-key gal and nice and quiet. She sleeps quite a bit which is typical of her breed mix She is very gentle when taking treats. Princess has a large hound appetite so her food is measured out twice daily so she doesn't get any heavier. Princess is housebroken and does well in the vehicle. She is capable of counter-surfing so a hound-proof home is important. She is not crate trained but her foster home ensures there is nothing on the counters or tables she would want. This breed is not for everyone as they can never be off-leash unless in a fully fenced yard with the correct height. She is a pure hound so will follow her nose. Going for hikes and walks each time will be an adventure as they will stop to smell everything. Princess will require a leash and body harness for her walks. Princess is very gentle with children but a little timid if boisterous. We would recommend children 10 years plus if there are any in the home. A cat-free home is mandatory as they will have a very high prey drive. A fully fenced yard (wooden, not chain-link), another resident dog, and a Veterinarian History of Compliance is mandatory to apply for our Princess as hounds are prone to separation anxiety.
