Star is approximately 4 years old and about 60 pounds of pure sweetness. When we rescued Star, she had been shot — the bullet went through her jaw and ear. She was in unimaginable pain. She underwent surgery to remove the bullets and had reconstructive work done on her face to save her precious life. Because of her injuries, her little tongue now permanently hangs out — and we think it makes her uniquely beautiful. 💕 It does NOT affect her eating or drinking, and she doesn’t even know she’s any different. And here’s the most amazing part… She is still SO full of love. Star: 🐾 Loves children 🐾 Loves car rides 🐾 Rolls over for belly rubs 🐾 Knows “sit” 🐾 Is incredibly smart 🐾 Is unbelievably sweet She cannot help what someone did to her. But we can help write the rest of her story. After everything she’s endured, Star deserves safety. She deserves kindness. She deserves a family who will see her tongue as a badge of survival and her heart as pure gold. Meet Minnie Mae — the sweetest adventure buddy you’ll ever meet. This 2‑year‑old black and tan coonhound was rescued from euthanasia at a Tennessee shelter and has been thriving in a temporary foster home. Now she’s ready for the forever family she truly deserves. Minnie Mae is 50 lbs of energy, curiosity, and love. She’s extremely active, strong, and happiest when she’s exploring, running, or playing with toys. Because she doesn’t currently have a fenced yard, she hasn’t been able to stretch her legs the way she needs — and she can be reactive when other dogs walk by. A secure fenced yard and an active household will make all the difference for her. She also loves going on car rides. Despite her high energy, Minnie Mae is a total sweetheart. She adores people, loves attention, and happily settles in for nighttime snuggles. During the day, she thrives when kept busy with enrichment, outdoor adventures, or anything that engages her hound brain. She is fully vaccinated, spayed, and ready to travel to her new home. This beautiful young hound girl has done nothing wrong, yet she finds herself at risk simply because shelters are overflowing and time is running out. While other dogs bark and pace, Ida’s biggest wish is simple — to be loved. ❤️ Extremely affectionate ❤️ Loves cuddles and kisses ❤️ Gentle, sweet nature ❤️ Beautiful hound girl with soulful eyes ❤️ Just wants a family to call her own One look into Ida’s eyes and you can see she hasn’t given up hope. Story
Sleepy is being fostered in PA. The adorable Sleepy is celebrating his second birthday and continues to grow and thrive. He is now crate trained. He is also house trained if kept on a routine. Sleepy has added home protector to his repertoire as he will bark at the sounds of strangers. True to his name, Sleepy has developed an affinity for electric blankets and still loves to cuddle. Although he requires slow introductions to humans and canines, he loves to play with other dogs, prefers not to be alone and is a wonderful companion.. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
Twain is an 8-year-old sweet boy, about 38 lbs, who has been with us for about 6 months. He is very good natured and gets along great with our 8-year-old female standard poodle. They have become good buddies and enjoy play fighting, riding in the car, sharing the couch, and running our fence line racing the neighbor dogs (Twain is always last, but he doesn’t mind). He has not had any potty accidents in our house and is low maintenance. Our groomer has kept his shedding to a minimum. He is a medium energy dog, so he’s not your guy if you want a dog to join you mountain climbing. He walks well on a leash but is happy being a couch potato, too. Now for the bad part. A couple of weeks ago, Twain bit a relative. It was not a vicious attack (no broken skin) possibly caused by fear, but potential adopters need to be aware. We also believe that Twain would do better with a companion dog because of some separation anxiety he had in his previous foster home.

SHAW 🚨💔 Shaw is a scared, gentle soul who arrived at the shelter with Hendrix and Aloe after getting into some chickens. Their owner has been notified, but so far these sweet dogs are still waiting… and now their futures are uncertain. Though they came in together, they do not need to leave together. Shaw is extremely nervous in the shelter environment and just wants to curl into himself when he’s frightened. But the second you stop to give him scratches and reassurance, he melts into a puddle of sweetness. He walks well on a leash, though he needs a little encouragement while he adjusts to all the noise and chaos around him. Underneath the fear is a loving couch potato who simply wants comfort and safety. Shaw deserves so much more than trembling in a kennel while time runs out. PLEASE TEXT KAREN 4136298152
