Story
Meet Cody! Cody is a 7-year-old sweetheart who has spent far too much of his life waiting behind kennel doors. After over 4 years in a shelter with little interest, he’s come to us in hopes that a fresh start will help him finally find the family he deserves. At 80 pounds, Cody may look like a big guy, but he’s truly a gentle soul at heart. He loves people and has shown himself to be kind, gentle, and friendly with everyone he’s met—including respectful children and even strangers at busy events. Cody has loved the company of other dogs and could potentially live with another dog as long as it`s a good fit. Cody still believes his family is out there. He deserves more than kennel walls—he deserves the love of a family, a cozy bed, and the joy of finally being chosen. Could Cody be the one to complete your home?

Story
Due to going through a divorce, needing to rent, and being unable to find affordable housing that accepts pets, I am heartbroken to be looking to rehome my dogs. I will also now be working 16-hour days, and they truly deserve more love, time, and attention than I can give. Elsa is our brindle female who is happiest anywhere you are—she is super sweet, extremely loyal, and loves to play as well. Gunnar (who is also listed on this app) is our black and white dog he is super loyal, loves to play, and cuddle. Both dogs are fantastic with our small children and get along great with other dogs; they have never been around cats, so that is unknown. If at all possible, I would love to keep them together, but most importantly, I need to find them a safe, loving home where they will have space to run, play, and be cherished the way they deserve.

Story
Thirty seconds after meeting her she was giving kisses. Honeypot isn’t shy with her affection. She seemed starved for both love and food when we met her. She also came in with a bloody tail from whatever tight space she was kept in. That makes a hard start to shelter life where happy tail is easy to get already. Honeypot isn’t letting anything bring her down. She loves all her new volunteer friends (and their treats of course). Now let’s show Honeypot the outside world can be even better in a good home. Chicago Animal Care and Control is located at 2741 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL, and is open from 12pm to 7pm daily. Walk-in visitors are welcome and helped on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are planning to adopt the day you visit, please plan to arrive before 5:30pm. Visitors arriving after 5:30pm will still be able to view animals in Pavilions A-B-C until 7pm. All dogs will be spayed/neutered and vaccinated before adoption. All household members should be present to meet dogs (especially those under 18 and any decision-makers). We recommend and can arrange dog-to-dog meet and greets for your current dog(s) to meet a potential dog sibling at the shelter. You will need to show proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination for your dog(s). Slow, cautious, and appropriate introductions are recommended after you allow time for decompression for the shelter dog. If you have any questions, please email caccpetfinder@gmail.com
