Elias: The Dog Everyone Walks Past… and the One Who Still Hopes Anyway Elias is about 6–7 years old, adoption fee sponsored, good with other dogs, but he definitely prefers the ladies. He’s not fluffy. He’s not tiny. He doesn’t come in “merle swirl sparkle confetti” coloring. He is, in fact… brown. With a broken tail that has retired from all future wagging duties. He’s also got a couple bald spots on his back end — the kind you get from too many nights on concrete and not enough nights on a couch. But his eyes? His eyes will stop you in your tracks. Warm, deep, and tired in that way that lets you know he’s seen some things… and somehow came out gentle. What gets us every time is how he looks at the door — every single day — like maybe today is finally his turn. Most people pass him by for the smaller, fluffier, flashier options. Elias just stays patient. Stays kind. Stays hopeful. If you want a dog who will be grateful for every walk, every soft blanket, every scrap of normal life… this is your guy. Come meet him. ADOPTION FEE SPONSORED!! Maybelle is a fan favorite amongst our volunteers and we are eager to find an adopter who recognizes that she's an absolute gem. This shorthaired mixed breed beauty is the color of a perfectly blended vanilla latte. She is a lively young girl probably 2-3 years old. Maybelle is fully grown at 38 pounds, her long legs make her look like a bigger dog. She's a playful pup, the perfect mix of intelligence, affection and athleticism. She loves to zoom around the yard playing with her toys and will happily entertain herself when her people are busy. She does enjoy "liberating" all toy squeakers. Maybelle bonds closely to her favorite people and loves to make new friends. She's so happy to go for rides in the car, especially with a pit stop for a pup cup. Did we mention she's whip smart? She knows Sit, Down and Shake and loves to learn new tricks. Maybelle would be fine as an only dog, soaking up all of the love and attention she can. If you'd like to meet Maybelle, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org.  We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. You can meet Maybelle at our weekly adoption event, Saturday noon-2 at PetSmart Eastgate. All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care.
