Story
Meet Titus! Titus came in as a stray. He was extremely underweight and & missing huge patches of fur. With quality food, medicated baths, flea treatment and love, his hair has grown back and he has gained 9+ lbs. Titus doesn’t love his spa time and will give you the sad eyes. Titus has been dog friendly & is currently in the play yard and can be changed out with several dog buddies. His special talent is that he can put several tennis balls in his mouth at once. He's about 5 years old and is still a bit underweight at 73 lbs. We think he could co-exist with a cat with proper introductions and supervision. Titus does need a secure yard so his bloodhound nose doesn't get him in trouble. Please research the bloodhound breed to see if Titus could be the dog for you!
Titus got a day out, this is what his handler had to say: "Titus was hesitant to load in the truck bed to leave the pound, but once in, he rode to town very well. When it was time to head back, Titus loaded himself in quite nicely and laid down the entire trip back, never even lifting his head until back at the pound. He enjoyed his park time on the 30’ line and it was pretty amazing watching this purebred Bloodhound naturally work, you can actually hear that nose puffing in and out to take in all the smells. He is strong and you will need to be ready to redirect if needed. He had a decent recall, but unfortunately would not perform it on camera. Titus was receptive to his leash training in town, never reacted to barking dogs, met everyone respectfully and laid down to nap while his handler was chatting with a friend. He wanted to place his front paws on the counter when his handler was conducting a bank transaction, but listened when asked to keep all four on the ground and again laid down until it was time to leave. Once he knows you as friend, he bonds quickly. He got noticed quite a bit and received compliments wherever he went. He is a very loving dog that accepts all affection and praise which makes up for all the slobber you will be covered in when receiving his kisses in return. Search and rescue would be his ideal future, but a loving family home environment would suit him just as well. "
