Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. *This animal is a part of our “Seniors for Seniors” program where we offer senior adopters an opportunity to adopt an eligible pet at a discounted fee.* Hey people! I am Noah! And, like my namesake from the movie "The Notebook", I am swoon-worthy. I am an old-fashioned gentleman who likes to take a walk alongside my love interest. I currently live with 5 dogs, and I get along great with all of them! I think it may be in part due to my charm. I am an unassuming chap who takes long, luxurious naps. My foster mom says I snore, but at least she knows where I am at all times! I have a bum leg, so I don't run that much. I can go downstairs, but I struggle a bit coming back up, so a one-level place would be great for an older man like myself! I bark when I am overexcited, but quiet otherwise. I love to wag my tail and do a little happy dance whenever there is food involved. I do carry a little bit of extra weight, but don't worry, I'm working on it! My foster mom thinks I am a great companion for anyone who is looking for a low-maintenance, sweet, cuddly guy! One big thing you should know is they are heartworm positive - but please don’t let that scare you away from adopting them! After they undergo treatment for their condition they will be completely healthy again, and heartworm is not a contagious disease. Because they need treatment, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) program. Click here to learn more about this program. They will get heartworm treatment at one of Ruff Start’s partner veterinary clinics in St. Cloud or Duluth, so their foster will need to be comfortable getting them to and from the appointments. Treatment will consist of three injections: the first will be roughly 30 days after they enter rescue. Then, the second and third injections will happen 30 days after the first. When they are undergoing treatment, they should be on activity ‘restrictions’ which just means they should relax in their crate or cuddle with you. Click here to learn more about heartworm disease, which is transmitted by mosquitoes. Noah Calhoun is from local impound. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract.
