She is building her confidence every day and will have you falling in love with her easy disposition. Lucy is doing well being fostered with dogs and kids in the home, as her foster shares “She is going to make a great family dog as her curious, easy-going personality shines through with time.”Lucy’s ideal home would provide a calmer environment with or without another dog. She loves playing with other dogs and enjoys pack walks with them. Lucy’s calm, submissive disposition would likely do well with dog-savvy kids who can give her a bit of time and space to get to know them. She has medium energy, as she likes to play outside and run around but content chilling nearby with a toy.Lucy is crate-trained and house-trained. She goes into her crate during the day and sleeps overnight in there without a peep. Lucy rarely has accidents and will continue to thrive when taken out regularly with a schedule and routine. She is improving on her leash manners and can redirect well. She will benefit from an owner who is excited to continue her training and teach her new tricks as she breaks out of her shell.Could this beautiful, soulful-eyed gal be the one for you? Please Note: All dogs currently available for adoption are posted on our website. Story
Stitch Local is currently in RI and looking for a 'furever' home! Stitch is a stunning Australian cattle dog, weighing about 45 lbs. He turns 2 in May and would love to celebrate his birthday with his new family. Like many people, Stitch gets anxious when meeting new people & going to new places & prefers slow introductions. But once he knows he’s safe, he warms up quickly and is a loyal, loving companion. While he has lived with another dog before & enjoys playing with dogs, we feel Stitch would prefer to be an only pet. He loves receiving all the attention from people! Older kids would be best, as little ones can make him nervous. Given his breed, he loves going on long walks & hikes and requires a fair amount of physical & mental stimulation. He walks well on a leash & is great in the car. Stitch is fully house trained, neutured & utd on his vaccinations. He does not like being crated at all & will injure himself trying to get out. Fortunately, a crate is not needed, as he is nondestructive in the home. Stitch is so excited to become part of your family adventures! If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the adoption application at www.rhodehomerescue.org/adoption-form to become a pre-approved adopter. If you were already approved through Rhode Home Rescue within the last 6 months, contact us today! Story
This is Ruthie May, an Australian Cattle Dog mix born in Arkansas. She has a heart as warm as the southern sun when it comes to humans. This sweet-natured girl, however, carries a cloak of anxiety and aggression in the presence of other dogs, revealing the complex layers of a rescue dogs life experiences. We adopted Ruthie May from a friend after hearing she was going to be rehomed for the 4th time in her life as an already 2 year old pup. She was under weight and had a belly full of worms. We accepted her with open arms and introduced her to our 5 year old Black Lab rescue which was a success. Over the past 4 years with Ruthie May we have learned that she is her best self when surrounded by humans. She will quickly come to you and grab your hands for pets and her favorite, belly rubs. Ruthie, so loving and insistent for attention towards her humans, however, unpredictability takes center stage when interacting with our lab. Ruthie needs to be in an only dog household.
