Story
Loretta is an estimated 8-year-old, 8-pound Chihuahua/Papillon mix with a gentle, easygoing personality and a story that proves just how different a dog can be once they feel safe. Loretta came to us as a stray from the Alvin shelter. She was extremely scared in the shelter environment and difficult to handle at first, so once her stray hold was over, the shelter reached out and asked us to take her. The moment Loretta got into a home, everything changed. The frightened little dog everyone had been worried about turned into an absolute sweetheart. Loretta is a quiet, affectionate girl who enjoys being close to her person. She loves curling up beside you on the couch, but she’s equally content tucked into a cozy dog bed nearby. She gets along well with other dogs and will occasionally play, although she prefers gentle interaction over rough-and-tumble puppy nonsense. She mostly ignores cats and does well with older children who understand how to carefully handle a small dog. She rides well in the car, sleeps peacefully through the night in a dog bed, and does well going outside to potty when taken out regularly. Loretta is also well behaved in the house and doesn’t tend to get into things, so while she can be crated, she generally doesn’t need to be. Loretta walks on a leash, although “walks on a leash” may be a generous description. Loretta chooses a destination and appreciates a human willing to follow along. At eight years old, she feels she has earned some decision-making authority. When Loretta arrived, she had significant dental disease and an abscessed tooth that had caused a small area beneath her eye to rupture and drain. She has since had a dental with the problem tooth removed and is doing well. She also has a Grade 3 heart murmur that will need to be monitored with her veterinarian. Loretta is fully vetted, including a full exam, spay, dental, vaccinations, and microchip. She is heartworm negative and current on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. After being so frightened in the shelter, Loretta has shown us that what she really needed was somewhere she could exhale. Now she’s ready for a quiet, loving home where she can spend the rest of her years on couches, in cozy beds, and occasionally taking her person for a walk in whatever direction she chooses. Loretta is located in Santa Fe, TX, and her adoption fee is $350. Apply to adopt at www.tpsrescue.com

Story
Meet Ace! Ace is a handsome 6-year-old Bernedoodle looking for a new home—and he has a very special request: he’d love to bring his best friend, Bella, along for the adventure! Ace and Bella have spent their entire lives together in perfect harmony. They’re both PetSmart training graduates, house-broken, well-mannered, and wonderfully social. Ace is kid-friendly and cat-friendly, and he currently lives happily with both a toddler and a cat. He also enjoys doggy daycare, so he’s comfortable making friends and being part of the action. This good boy is also a total pro when it comes to grooming and vet visits, making him an easygoing companion in all the places that can sometimes be a little stressful for dogs. Ace is hoping for a family who will appreciate what a wonderful, well-rounded dog he is—and, if possible, has enough room in their hearts and home for his lifelong companion, Bella. These two have always had each other, and keeping them together would be a dream come true. Could you be the family that gives Ace and Bella their next chapter?

Story
Meet Bella - a beautiful 6-year-old Bernedoodle with a wonderful personality, impeccable manners, and a lifelong best friend named Ace! For six years, Bella and Ace have lived side by side in perfect harmony. They’re PetSmart training graduates, house-broken, well-mannered, cat-friendly, kid-friendly, and incredibly well socialized. Bella currently lives with a cat and a toddler and does wonderfully with both. She also attends doggy daycare, where she gets to enjoy the company of other pups. And if there’s one thing Bella especially loves, it’s water! Whether it’s a swim or simply splashing around, she’s happiest when she can get her paws wet. Bella is also a dream at the groomer and vet’s office, making her a wonderfully cooperative companion. She’s got the kind of well-rounded temperament that makes her easy to love—and even easier to imagine as part of the family! While Bella would be thrilled to find a loving home of her own, she and Ace have been together their entire lives and would absolutely love to be adopted together. If someone has a little extra room in their home and a lot of room in their heart, these two could be the perfect pair. Two best friends. Six years of memories. One beautiful future they hope to share!
