Story
Looking for a hard-working farm dog who's ready to trade chores for couch time? I think you've just found him! Hi, friends! My name is Willy, and I'm a handsome Border Collie mix with a big smile, an even bigger heart, and a lifetime of loyalty to give. I'm a friendly, happy, social guy who absolutely LOVES people. Spending time with my humans is one of my favorite things, and I'm always happy to be part of whatever is going on. I haven't spent much time around small children, so slow introductions will help us get to know each other. Before coming to Heartland, I was a working farm dog, so I'm no stranger to hard work. I'm comfortable around livestock and have spent most of my life outdoors. I will say that chickens are no friend of mine though. Now, I'm hoping to find a family who will show me what life as a beloved companion is all about. I love playing with toys and being outside, so if you've got a yard or enjoy spending time outdoors, we'll get along just fine. I'll be honest about one thing—I can be a little selective when it comes to my canine friends, and cats are definitely not my cup of tea. Because of that, I'm looking for a cat-free home, and any introductions to other dogs should be done slowly to make sure we're a good match. Since I've lived outdoors for most of my life, indoor living will be a brand-new adventure for me. I'm not house trained yet, but with patience, consistency, and a little encouragement, I'm ready to learn. I have a feeling I'll catch on quickly. If you're looking for a sweet, loyal companion who's ready to leave farm life behind and become someone's best friend, I think we should meet. Give Heartland a call to set up a meet and greet. I can't wait to meet my forever family!

Story
Rookie is about 15 year old and was adopted by another couple from the Denver kill shelter. They were looking for someone to adopt him....so I took him and had him for 7 years and then I got married. My new husband's son also has a dog and they do not get along. My renter who moved in my home agreed to care for him. Now 3 years later she doesn't want that responsibility any more and is moving out. I don't have a place for him. He is fear aggresive and has to warm up to people. He is also very active and loves to fetch. (He would do it all day) I really don't want to surrender him to a shelter. He is not up to date on shots but I can take him in. Trips to the vet are very stressful and he has to be muzzled and basically sat on to get a shot. He is a loving dog to the owner...and if he knows you. I just want to be as honest as possible about my situation. He does get along with some pets....but not all. My renter had a weiner dog and cats and they were fine...but he doesn't seem to get
