While she may take a little time to warm up to new people, once you've earned her trust, you'll gain a devoted companion who loves being near her people. Whether she's relaxing by your side for pets and affection, joining you for a car ride, or playing with her favorite stuffies, Ebony is happiest when she can share her time with those she loves. Ebony is a true athlete with both brains and brawn. She is strong, energetic, and will need an adopter who is physically capable of handling her and committed to continuing her training journey.Since coming to Greyhound Pets, Inc., Ebony has worked extensively with our trainers on leash skills and managing her reactions to exciting or overwhelming situations. She has made tremendous progress and now walks beautifully on leash. Ebony is very smart, eager to learn, and enjoys working with her people. She already knows several cues, including touch, sit, on your mat, down, wait, paw, and 'on my left'; which helps bring her back to your side during walks. Ebony thrives when she has both mental and physical outlets. She enjoys learning new skills, problem-solving activities, and opportunities to stretch her legs. Because of her athletic nature, Ebony will need a home with a securely fenced yard and a family committed to providing her with daily exercise in a safe, leash-free area where she can run and play. While Ebony can comfortably see other dogs while out on walks, she prefers having her own space and would be happiest as the only dog in the home. As long as she is given adequate distance from other dogs, she remains relaxed and focused. However, if she feels crowded or another dog gets too close, she can become reactive. Fortunately, Ebony responds well to guidance, and simply moving her away from the situation is often all that;s needed to help her regain her composure. Due to her prey drive and strength, Ebony cannot be trusted with small dogs or other small animals, including cats.Despite her athletic abilities and physical strength, Ebony is also a sensitive soul. Loud noises can startle her, and she appreciates patient, understanding people who will help her build confidence in new situations. In return, she offers unwavering loyalty, companionship, and affection. For someone willing to continue her training, provide the exercise and structure she needs, and appreciate both her strength and sensitive nature, Ebony will make an incredibly rewarding companion. Her intelligence, eagerness to learn, and loving personality make her a very special girl who is ready to find a home of her own. Ebony's breed mix is 52.4% Greyhound, 17.1% Borzoi, 17.1% American Pit Bull Terrier, and 13.4% Belgian Malinois Sponsored by Elizabeth Lechner Ebony would love to have a sponsor while she waits for her forever home.
