Story
Born August 29th, Briar is a Boston Terrier mix with a whole lot of love packed into one little puppy who is ready to find her perfect family. And before anyone wonders, yes, Briar has received plenty of interest! We’ve had plenty of applications for these puppies, but finding the right home isn’t about choosing the first available family. We’re incredibly particular about where these babies go, and Briar has some specific needs that we’re not willing to compromise on. So, let’s tell you a little more about this beautiful girl! 🐾 She’s an outgoing, playful, curious girl who loves to explore, learn new things, and spend time with her people. She’s equally happy playing with her siblings or curling up for a good cuddle. 🐾 Briar is a little sensitive and she absolutely loves affection. When bedtime rolls around, she’s been known to let her foster family know that she’d much rather be held and cuddled than settle down on her own. She’s also been quite confident when exploring new things, which is wonderful to see! Like all puppies, she’s still developing, and her personality will continue to evolve as she grows. 🐾 WHAT KIND OF HOME DOES BRIAR NEED? We’re looking for a very particular kind of family for this little girl: 🏡 A home with another small, playful, friendly dog. Briar would love a canine companion to grow up with, play with, and learn from. We’re hoping to find a home with a well-socialized resident dog who would enjoy having a little sister. ❤️ Someone who is home often. Briar is a young puppy who thrives on companionship and affection. We’re not looking for a home where she’ll be left alone for long hours every day. 🐶 Experience with Boston Terriers or similar breeds. These puppies need families who understand the unique needs, characteristics and potential health considerations of brachycephalic breeds. Previous experience with Boston Terriers or a similar breed is important to us. 🌿 A commitment to force-free, positive-reinforcement training. We expect adopters to be committed to ongoing training, socialization, and helping Briar grow into a confident, well-adjusted adult dog. 🏡 A securely fenced backyard. A safe outdoor space is important for these puppies as they grow and explore. 💗 Financial stability and excellent veterinary care. Puppies are a long-term commitment, and we need families who are prepared for routine veterinary care, unexpected medical expenses, and everything that comes with responsible ownership. 🐾 And, of course, we’re looking for someone who will happily spoil this little girl, shower her with affection, and treat her as a cherished family member for the rest of her life! 🐾 A FEW IMPORTANT THINGS ABOUT OUR ADOPTION PROCESS: We know puppies are exciting, but we don’t believe in quick or casual adoptions. These babies have received an incredible amount of care, and we’re committed to finding homes that will continue that dedication. Our adoption process includes: 🐾 A completed adoption application and application review. 🐾 A phone interview. 🐾 Reference checks. 🐾 A home check. 🐾 A meet-and-greet with all members of the household. 🐾 A commitment to our adoption contract and responsible ownership requirements. 🐾 Briar is currently in the Didsbury, Alberta area. Applicants must be willing and able to travel to Didsbury for the meet-and-greet and adoption process. 🐾 HER ADOPTION FEE & REQUIREMENTS: Briar’s adoption fee includes: • Three puppy vaccines and deworming. • Microchip. • A pre-booked spay appointment at our Ruff Start veterinary partner when she is approximately six months old. Spaying is a contractual requirement, and there are no exceptions to this commitment. Adopters must also commit to completing a puppy class OR three appropriate socialization outings before Briar reaches six months of age. These requirements are important to us because responsible adoption means setting puppies up for success throughout their lives. 🐾 INTERESTED IN BRIAR? If you have experience with Boston Terriers or similar breeds, a friendly little canine companion at home, and the time and commitment to raise a puppy properly, we’d love for you to tell us more about your family! Please complete our adoption application through our website: 🌐 https://www.ruffstartanimalrescue.com/dog-application-form Please remember that submitting an application does not guarantee adoption. We will carefully review applications and contact only those selected to move forward to the interview stage. We know Briar’s perfect family is out there somewhere. We’re just not willing to settle for anything less than the right one. This little girl deserves a lifetime of love, companionship, adventures, and cuddles. And we intend to make sure she gets exactly that. 💕
