You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Squeak was left behind at the vet clinic by an owner who brought her in for injuries then never came back to get her.  Squeak is a boxer pitbull mix puppy who is super playful and would love room to run and play and burn off energy.   Here's hoping we can find her a forever home.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Clay County Animal Rescue & Shelter is located at 375 Water Elm Lane, Flora, IL. Our phone number is 618-665-3005.  We are renovating our shelter so hours are by appointment only.  The typical adoption fee for dogs is $150.  It includes vaccination, deworming , spay/neuter, heartworm testing on dogs of age and microchipping, which is now mandatory by state law.  Some dogs we discount to as little as $50 due to sponsorship.  Some dogs we ask a higher adoption fee, which helps us recoup expenses on heartworm treatment on other dogs. All cats are spayed/neutered/vaccinated/flea treated/dewormed and microchipped prior to adoption.  Cat adoption fees range from $60-$100.  We spay/neuter/microchip/vaccinate and deworm all kittens and cats, prior to adoption.  Our shyer/less adoptable cats are classed as "barn cats" and are free with a completed/approved barn cat application, which can be found on our website. For updates on adoption events and more pics of pets available, go to our website, www.claycountyshelter.com or look for us on Facebook.   April 27, 2024, 12:07 am

Story
Momo!      DOB: 2/2018       Weight: 70 lbs   MoMo is a very handsome Boxer mix! He is great with people and kids. Always super excited to see you and turns into a crazy wiggle butt. However, Momo prefers to be the only child. Doesn’t care much for cats or other dogs. Walks around them fine, but will pick a fight if they get too close. He loves to ride in the car and has a medium energy level. Likes to get out for walks and sniff around. Knows how to sit and will take handouts nicely. No resource guarding issues. He’s very sweet. Could use a good food schedule and some more exercise. Momo has lived in a house for the past two years and is used to the house life. He is house and crate trained of course.  His adoption fee is $175. That helps us to cover worming, vaccines, spay/neuter, heart worm test, and microchip. We offer a 2-3 week trial. If for some reason it does not work out, you’ll be refunded $100 of your fee. If interested in adopting him please fill out an application on our NEW website. https://www.newliferescues.org . If you have issues, send us a message through our Facebook. Came to the shelter in 2/2020 and was adopted for awhile. Returned 12/2022.***YOU MUST FILL OUT AN APPLICATION BEFORE WE DO ANY MEET AND GREETS. QUESTIONS? CONTACT pcpoundpuppies1@gmail.com Our standard adoption fee is $175 ($250 for puppies 6 months and under, or small dogs 20lbs or below) which covers a portion of the dog's vetting costs. Story
Hey there, awesome folks! The name's Porter, and I'm here to bring some excitement and love into your life. Let me tell you a bit about myself and why I'm the perfect furry friend for you! First things first, I'm a lively Boxer Pit mix, just a sprightly 8 months old, bursting with energy and enthusiasm for life. Yep, you read that right-I'm all about living life to the fullest and having a blast with my favorite humans! Now, about my previous home-well, my last owner surrendered me due to health reasons, but hey, it's all good! It just means I'm on the lookout for a new family who's ready to embrace my playful spirit and shower me with love and cuddles. Here's the scoop-I'm a real social butterfly, especially when it comes to other dogs. Whether it's romping around in playgroups or simply enjoying the company of furry pals, I thrive on companionship. Oh, and speaking of companionship, I've even lived with cats before! Yep, I'm a versatile guy who gets along with everyone. When it comes to children they can be a little outside my comfort zone. My last home had grandchildren that I got on well with, but I didn't do so well with a child who was visiting. I would need to meet any little ones in the home before going to live with them. A calm and slow introduction should help me warm up to them. When it comes to walks, I've got a medium amount of energy, and I'll admit, I might pull a bit at first out of sheer excitement. But hey, once I settle into the groove, I'm a breeze to walk and will happily trot alongside you, taking in all the sights and smells. And with a little bit of training I can get over that eager pulling behavior. And guess what? I'm a quick learner! Yep, I can sit like a champ, and with a little positive reinforcement and some tasty treats, I'm sure I can master even more commands to impress you. Oh, and did I mention I'm a total sweetheart? Yep, I love nothing more than giving kisses and snuggling up with my favorite humans and furry friends. So, what do you say? Ready to welcome a bundle of love and joy into your home? I promise to fill your days with laughter, love, and plenty of tail wags. Let's make some unforgettable memories together!
