Our shelter is open by appointment only so you must submit the form and be pre-approved to adopt to schedule an appointment. All dogs/puppies are sterilized, vaccinated, 6 months and over are heartworm tested, examined and microchipped. The shelter also deworms biweekly and provides flea and heartworm medication monthly while the animals are in our care.

Today, she’s nearly 70 pounds of pure love, heartworm free, spayed, and healthy.Mizzy was recently returned from what was supposed to be her forever home—through no fault of her own. Along the way, someone dyed her snowy white coat hot pink, and unfortunately, it hasn’t come out. But trust us—her beauty shines through, and her heart is even brighter.She adores kids and people of all kinds. She does well with calm, smaller dogs but isn’t a fan of cats or large dogs. Honestly, Mizzy would love nothing more than to be your one and only, though she’ll share her space with the right little canine friend.Personality-wise, she’s a total gem. Ask her “Who’s a good girl?” and you’ll get a hilarious display—running in circles, tail wagging, and hopping up for head scratches. Meet Cookie!Cookie is a 75-pound sweetheart with a very simple idea of what makes a good life: having someone to hang with. Cookie is an 8-year-old Bulldog mix who found herself at an overcrowded local shelter after her family could no longer afford her care. Even though people expressed interest in her at adoption events, no one ever came back for her. Her stay kept getting longer, which is especially concerning in a shelter that was already over capacity.Thankfully, Cookie had some wonderful people in her corner. Volunteers and shelter staff continued pulling for her and made sure she eventually found her way into rescue. Now she is safe with New Orleans Bulldog Rescue, and we’re excited to help her find the family she’s been waiting for. Cookie is a sweet, gentle, friendly girl who seems happiest when she has someone nearby to be her best buddy. She’s lower-key and affectionate, and she isn’t looking for a complicated life.
