Story
Hello my name is Kenely and I am a rescue with my current home. I was found by the spca on the side of the road with no information and very scarred 8 years ago. I have since been slowly socializing and learning to trust again. I’m now great with people and will become your best friend with a good scratch. I love to lean gently against my people to show affection and follow around to keep up with everything. Sadly my current home and mom are having a hard time keeping up with me because of a health decline with mom and because I don’t feel comfortable around the other residents (the cats) so after a lot of time and trying to make it work mom thinks it’s best I go to a home to be able to have my needs met and get the love and care I deserve. Some other things to know about me I need my nails clipped every 6 weeks. I get scared sometimes around men with hats or anyone with a long stick like object due to my past mom thinks. If mom doesn’t pick up the phone please just leave a message.

Story
Meet Zoe! This sweet 2-year-old girl is spayed, up to date on her vaccines, and ready to find a home to call her own. Zoe has done well with other dogs and has such a gentle, loving spirit. She’s also a smart cookie who already knows “sit,” “down,” and “paw,” and she’s eager to keep learning with her new family. We’re so grateful to Zoe’s special friend who generously sponsored this post, helping her story reach more people. Their kindness gives Zoe an even greater chance of finding the loving home she deserves. If you’ve been searching for a bright, affectionate companion to share your days with, Zoe might be the perfect match. Swing by the Center for Pets anytime to meet Zoe! DG

Story
Sunny has been with us for nearly 300 days. When Sunny arrived, our poor boy had two hernias. We performed surgery to remove each of them and through it all he has been so patient and so easy to handle! Sunny is all better now but with these surgeries has come an expected, but understandably difficult roadblock for adopters, Sunny needs a diaper. Why does he need a diaper? After two surgeries everything down there is a bit more loose than when he was originally designed. We have worked hard to firm up his stool and potty training is not an issue! The diaper is just a precaution for the occasional drip or leak. We aren't sure how long his butt will be leaky, or if it will ever stop completely. But we know he doesn't deserve to sit in the shelter for another 300 days until we find out. It may sound difficult, but any extra time it takes to get ready, will be worth it with Sunny. Sunny is a GREAT dog, so changing a diaper is no big thing for him. Diapers are the easiest way to allow Sunny to roam freely inside a home, and they are inexpensive, and come in disposable or reusable varieties! Currently he is on a special diet to try and help tighten up things down there, but we hope he can be taken off that diet over time. Here are a few first hand experiences from Sunny's friends: "He's SUCH a good and easy walk and has the goofiest little strut when he's in the play yard" "Sunny is always up for a game of fetch or a good run, but he’s also incredibly loyal, always by your side when it’s time to relax" "Sunny is the perfect companion for those who love a fun-loving dog with a lot of heart and an even bigger sense of humor!" Sunny is our Pet of the Month so his adoption fee is currently waived, but if you’d like take him home as a foster first that is definitely an option. You can stop by any time to meet/adopt him or email foster@lynchburghumane.org if you are interested in fostering.

Story
Meet Tyson! Tyson is a 10 month old male fawn boxer mixed puppy. He is a bundle of enthusiasm. He loves his toys and especially loves chew toys specifically. He is updated on his vaccinations but hasn't been neutered. He would prefer to be with an active family and does best with older kids in the house. He would love to have a back yard where he can run and play freely to get his energy out and stretch his legs from time to time. He is crate trained and will potty on pads or go outside too! Sometimes he gets nervous when his favorite people aren't by his side, but he does very well with calming chews to help him out from time to time.
