Story
Hi, I’m Luke Perry and I’m ready to find my forever home! Dog’s Name: Luke PerryLocation: Carlock, ILDate of Birth: 6/23/2023Gender: MaleBreed: KomondorColor: WhiteWeight: Approximately 120 lbs Gets along with:Dogs?: Yes! Luke enjoys playing with his dog friends once he's had a slow introduction.Cats?: Luke is interested in cats and has lived around them in his foster home without harming them.Kids?: Older, calmer kids would be the best match for Luke. Loud or rambunctious children can make him nervous, so he needs kids who can give him time and space to get comfortable. Training:Leash Trained: Yes! Walks nicely on a loose leash.Crate Trained: Yes! Goes into his crate/kennel and does well there.Potty Trained: Yes! Indicates when he needs to go potty and doesn't have indoor accidents. Meet Luke Perry — The Dog Who Loves With His Whole Heart Luke Perry isn't the dog who will walk into a room and immediately decide everyone is his best friend. But give him a little time to decide that you're his person, and prepare to be loved with absolutely everything this 120-pound fluffy guy has. Luke can be timid when he first meets someone, but his foster says that once he gets to know and trust you, he is ALL IN. He loves his people with everything he has. And after spending so much time waiting for his forever family, we think it's about time someone gets to experience just how special it is to be loved by Luke Perry. And there's a playful guy hiding underneath all that fluff! Luke loves playing with his doggie friends after proper introductions. When he wants his humans to join the fun, he'll even play-bow to them, and one of his favorite hobbies is dramatically pouncing on balls. Yes, this giant fluffy livestock guardian apparently has a goofy side. Luke is also wonderfully prepared for life with his future family. He's potty trained, crate trained, and walks nicely on a loose leash. He's already neutered and fully adapted to foster life—he's simply waiting for someone to finally choose him. And just wait until you come home. Luke may kennel nicely while you're gone, but his foster says he'll bound out of his kennel in excitement to welcome you home. Imagine having that giant white face waiting for you at the end of every workday. Luke's perfect family doesn't need to have the busiest house on the block. In fact, he'd probably prefer that they don't. He's looking for someone who enjoys a calmer home, is around quite a bit, and understands that the very best relationships aren't always instantaneous. Sometimes they're built slowly—and become incredibly strong because of it. A home with older, respectful kids who understand how to move calmly around him could be a good fit. Luke also enjoys canine companionship once introductions are taken slowly. He has shown interest in the cats in his foster home but has not harmed them. Because Luke does have some prey drive outdoors, his foster feels a fenced yard or access to a secure fenced play area would be ideal. That would give him a safe place to stretch those very long legs, play with his dog friends, and perfect his ball-pouncing technique. Luke is also a Komondor, which makes him pretty special. His future family gets not only an incredibly loyal companion, but one of the most distinctive giant breeds around. His foster has extensive experience with Komondors and can be a wonderful resource for the family lucky enough to bring him home. Luke also has a severe chicken allergy, so his forever family will need to keep him on a completely chicken-free diet. Once chicken was removed from his diet, his skin began healing and he started feeling much better. But here's the most important thing to know about Luke: He doesn't give his heart away immediately. He gives it deliberately. Give him patience.Give him consistency.Give him a little time to decide you're safe. And once he decides you're his? Luke Perry loves his people with everything he's got. Somewhere out there is the person who is going to look at this giant fluffy face and wonder how Luke waited this long to be chosen. We hope that person finally finds him. Could you be the person Luke Perry has been waiting for? Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, this dog is considered available for adoption.
