Story
Meet Orchid I was found wandering the streets of Cabell County, West Virginia, in mid-June. When my foster mom, who is a rescuer, saw me, she immediately knew I was a French Brittany. I’m mostly white, with beautiful black and liver markings on my paws. She acted quickly and contacted NBRAN to help me find safety. When I arrived, I weighed 44 pounds and was carrying a little too much weight. I also needed some dental work. I’ve since had several teeth removed and a thorough dental cleaning, and I’m now a much healthier 37 pounds. My foster mom adds a little water and a couple of tablespoons of wet food to my meals to make them easier and more enjoyable for me. My foster family already has a Brittany, and she has been a wonderful teacher, showing me all the rules of the house. I’ve settled in beautifully! I’m allowed on the couch, I sleep in bed, and I’m trusted to have free run of the house. My crate door stays open, and I happily go inside when I’m asked—especially when a storm rolls in. It’s become my safe little spot. The vet believes I’m around 8–10 years old. I love going for walks and am a very polite walking companion. Because I have some arthritis in my right leg, I can’t go more than about a mile, but I still enjoy getting out and exploring at my own pace. I absolutely love car rides, and I’ve even spent lots of time camping this summer! I’m perfectly content watching all the animals around me and meeting new people. I’m not food aggressive at all, although I do like to keep a close eye on my foster brother in case he decides to leave anything behind! Because I’m prone to gaining weight, my family will need to keep an eye on my portions and treats. We’ve also discovered that I have allergies. I take one Claritin in the morning and one in the evening as directed by my veterinarian. My foster mom also makes sure to wipe my feet if they get wet. I have the cutest little way of communicating. When I get food or treats—or when I need to go potty—I do a happy little tippity-tap-tap and spin in circles! I don’t bark, but if I need to go outside, I may whimper softly and head toward the door. I know my name, Orchid, which was given to me at the shelter, and I’ve learned quite a few commands: sit, stay, go to couch, down, wait (when a car is coming), okay/go (for walks), and come. Most of all, I’m a total people girl. I don’t just want to be near my humans—I want to be touching them. ❤️ I’m happiest when I’m curled up beside my people, soaking up their love and giving plenty right back. I’m a sweet, gentle, well-mannered girl who has been through a lot and is so grateful to finally be safe. I’m hoping my next chapter is with a forever family who will love me, keep me close, and let me enjoy all the little things that make me happy. I’m Orchid, and I’m ready to find my forever home. Orchid's adoption fee is $350 to offset the vet care Orchid has received. Story
Are you looking for your new best friend and adventure partner, whether it is exploring nature or riding shotgun in your vehicle?  Dottie is a beautiful, smart independent 8-year-old, 54 lb,  orange and white spayed female who is full of energy. She loves attention and lovin. In addition, Dottie loves outdoor adventures and enjoys scanning the woods for birds and other critters. Dottie has a high prey drive and is also very food motivated.  Her adopter needs to understand that she gives harmless love nips in an attempt to get affection. Dottie is eager to please.  If Dottie has a fursibling, the fursibling will need to be submissive and easygoing.  Also, only homes with older considerate children will be considered. To keep this sweet girl emotionally stimulated, Dottie would enjoy puzzles and other enrichment activities.   Would you like to participate in agility or barn hunts with your Brittany? Well....Dottie is your gal!  Due to her keen sense pf smell, Dottie enjoys scent games in the house and in the backyard. In true Brittany fashion, Dottie pulls on a leash. She could use some additional leash training. A fenced yard is required for Dottie. She loves to run for the fun of it. Precious Dottie is housetrained and even though she is crate trained, she is trusted alone in the house; however, she is a well accomplished counter surfer, she has even been known to slide open a few doors.  At her previous foster home, she wore and responded to an e collar for recall. Her nose simply gets the best of her, so at times, without the e collar Dottie experiences selective hearing. Even though Dottie can be super active and instinctive, she gives lots of love and affection. She has been well loved and will be a fabulous dog for the right home. Dottie is heartworm negative, spayed and up to date on all vaccines.  She also receives monthly heartworm preventative. Below is Dottie’s furever home wishlist: A home full of love with lots of hugs and snuggles An active home  A fenced back yard An easygoing and submissive doggie fursibling - NO CATS Dottie would also excel at the following  Agility Scent activities Dottie's adoption fee is $350 to offset vetting costs. She is currently located in North Georgia, but can be transported up to 1400 miles to an approved adopter. (with the adopter being responsible for the last up to 100 miles). Story
Hi Brittany Lovers! My name is Hank and I am approximately 18 months old. When I got to NBRAN, I visited the vet and got all my vaccines and I was neutered. I am heartworm negative and I take my monthly heartworm preventatives like a good boy!  I am a very handsome male French Brittany, if I do say so myself. Actually, everyone that meets me says I am very handsome! At 30 lbs., I am a little guy.  I can be very shy, but I can also be very loving. One thing for sure, I don’t like you touching my feet!  Because, I had lived my life in a kennel with a concrete floor, I did not play or walk in the grass much.  That makes going to the potty on the grass confusing for me.  I was only allowed to relieve myself on the concrete.  I am very smart, but sometimes habits can be hard to break, and house training has not been easy for me.  I would love a home with a housetrained doggie friend that would help me learn the ropes, but I am proud to say that I have done so well on my housetraining, I might not need another dog to show me the ropes.  I have never been around cats, but I don’t think I would like them very much! My foster family loves me but wants me to have a family of my very own.  I am still fixated with rolling in things that don’t smell so good, but my foster mom has worked with me, and I am getting lots better.  I need a home with a fenced backyard to run in, and a doggie door would help me with housetraining, although it is not a “must have.” I am a Houdini in my collar and harness and have been known to try to get out of them (successfully) and explore. Do you think you would like me to come be part of your family? If you have patience and a loving home where I can have fenced yard, I would love to come live with you! My adoption fee is $400 to help offset the expenses associated with getting me ( and other fabulous rescued Brittanys) in great condition for a fabulous new home.  You don't have to live in Tennessee, NBRAN will transport me up to 1400 miles to my furever home. Please contact Suzanne Horsley ztasuzanne@gmail.com or Debbie Tuthill agilitybrits@gmail.com  to find out more about me! Story
Meet Your New Best Friend! Jayce is a 3-year-old Brittnay Mix who is looking for his forever home. While he might be a little shy when you first meet him, give him a moment to come out of his shell, and you'll find a funny, bouncy, and deeply loving companion. Jayce is a "paws-on" kind of dog! He is famous for his hugs and will spend his time trying to wrap his paws around you if he isn't already trying to curl up in your lap. He is the perfect blend of a lounge partner and a playmate. Because of his cautious temperament, Jayce has some specific needs to help him feel safe and successful: No Other Dogs: He prefers being the "only child" and can be reactive toward strange dogs. Quiet Environment: He would not enjoy the high-stress environment of a dog park. Patient Humans: He needs an owner who understands he needs to approach new things at his own pace. No Strangers (at first): He can be vocal with people he doesn't know, but his loyalty to his inner circle is unmatched. If you have the patience to let him blossom, you will be rewarded with a level of love and loyalty that only a dog like Jayce can give. He is ready to be your most devoted friend. Jayce's adoption fee is $325 to offset the cost of vetting and help other rescues in need. He is currently located in Georgia and can be transported up to 1400 miles via our Canine Railroad. For more information, please contact NBRAN Virginia coordinator Leslie Trenta .  leslie@leslietrentadesigns.com      August 20, 2026, 2:36 pm
