Story
Here is a little story about a girl named Amber.  And this is a bit of a head scratcher. How this beautiful Brittany specimen ended up in rescue is beyond us.  Amber is a gorgeous orange and white roan female Brittany.  She ticks all the boxes for the AKC standard, too.  She ended up in a rural area lost.  Some kind folks found her and had her checked for a chip.  There was no chip or tags and efforts to locate an owner were not successful.   She was checked out by a local vet who determined she was a 42 pound healthy 2-3 year old, heartworm and Lyme free and most likely spayed based on an abdominal scar.  She was brought up to date on all immunizations.  That was all great medical news.   And there is even more good news.......  Amber is housebroken.  And crate trained.  That is something to be excited about!  This girl sleeps happily in her crate.   Amber obviously had a different name before being found but just won't tell us what it was.  This girl is very smart and is already recognizing that her name is now Amber.    She spends her days playing with her Golden Retriever foster brother and when she runs out of fuel, she simply puts herself in her crate and falls asleep.  She loves the attention of her current people but needs her own forever people that she will reward with a lifetime of pure love.  If you aren't convinced, just check out the heart marking on her side.  Her favorite position when she wants human attention is to sit on your feet so you are forced to provide endless pets and ear rubs and can't get away.   This gorgeous girl is all Brittany.  She needs someone who is willing to train her to be the perfect family member.  Previous Brittany experience is a big plus.  Her perfect home would be someplace where she could replace the dog you never thought you could replace.  New people?  No problem. Amber is not shy.  Children under ten may not be a match for her enthusiasm but having older kids to play with would probably thrill her.  She loves to run and needs a physical fence to keep her safe.  Amber shows a ton of potential for agility work.  This little Brit is a perfect combination of sassy and biddable.   Amber's adoption fee is $400 to offset the cost of vetting and assisting other rescues in need. Currently fostered in WV, she can be transported up to 1400 miles via NBRAN's Canine Railroad Transport. Story
Meet Your New Best Friend! Jayce is a 3-year-old Brittnay Mix who is looking for his forever home. While he might be a little shy when you first meet him, give him a moment to come out of his shell, and you'll find a funny, bouncy, and deeply loving companion. Jayce is a "paws-on" kind of dog! He is famous for his hugs and will spend his time trying to wrap his paws around you if he isn't already trying to curl up in your lap. He is the perfect blend of a lounge partner and a playmate. Because of his cautious temperament, Jayce has some specific needs to help him feel safe and successful: No Other Dogs: He prefers being the "only child" and can be reactive toward strange dogs. Quiet Environment: He would not enjoy the high-stress environment of a dog park. Patient Humans: He needs an owner who understands he needs to approach new things at his own pace. No Strangers (at first): He can be vocal with people he doesn't know, but his loyalty to his inner circle is unmatched. If you have the patience to let him blossom, you will be rewarded with a level of love and loyalty that only a dog like Jayce can give. He is ready to be your most devoted friend. Jayce's adoption fee is $325 to offset the cost of vetting and help other rescues in need. He is currently located in Georgia and can be transported up to 1400 miles via our Canine Railroad. Beneath that handsome face is a gentle soul who is quietly hoping for a forever home where he can finally feel safe, loved, and understood.     Milton came from a hoarding situation, so the world can still feel a little overwhelming to him at times. He is naturally shy and can become nervous if someone reaches toward him too quickly, but with patience, kindness, and a calm environment, this precious boy continues to blossom. Because of this, Milton would do best in a home with older children who can respect his boundaries and allow him to build trust at his own pace. One thing that helps Milton feel especially comfortable is being around other confident, friendly dogs. He takes comfort in their presence and would likely thrive in a home with canine companions who can show him the ropes and help him continue gaining confidence.      Milton is wonderfully quiet, keeps his kennel clean, and has a peaceful nature that makes you want to protect him forever. Now he’s simply looking for a patient, loving home and the chance to finally know what it feels like to belong. Apply today!Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.Bella is about 10 years old, but certainly does not act her age! She has been in a loving home for almost 8 years, and is now in need of a home in which the owner is home more often. Bella has been through extensive training, and knows many commands including sit, stay, down, wait, touch, come, place, and crate.  She is house-trained, crate trained, and great on a leash. She is up to date on vetting and presently has a clean bill of health. She is great with people and children. She has only been around a baby once, and seemed reserved and a bit scared of her. The reason Bella was returned to our rescue is because of her anxiety when left alone for long periods of time. Several medications have been tried, but she may still bark when left alone in her crate. Her foster has one medication which does help her for 2 to 3 hours before she gets anxious. Given her owner moved into a townhouse, and works full time, this will not work with neighbors potentially hearing her barking.  Presently, Bella stays with one foster, and another one helps if the present foster is gone for a long day and evening. If you are interested in either being her long term foster or adopter, the foster that has her is willing to provide you with support or free boarding for anytime it is needed. This foster lives in Eastern Baltimore County area and says she is just the perfect loving companion for someone who is home most of the time.
