American Shorthair

Male, Adult
Cedar Rapids, IA
(when grown) -
Good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, Spayed or Neutered,
I adopted Gibson as a stray back in the fall of 2015 when I was in college. He was estimated by the vets to be about 8-12 months old at the time, making him approximately 9 years old today. We love Gibson but he has territorial issues and leaves urine marks around the house. My wife and I have dealt with this issue with pheromones, anti-anxiety medication but the best thing to help him has been letting him outside. During the warm months Gibsons will mark his territory outside but once the seasons change we will find spots in the house again. Gibson has no problem with dogs and has lived with both large and small dogs. He does have issues with cats but not all and has had a good relationship with another cat in the past. My wife and I are hoping to start a family but are concerned the marking will be an issue and not a good environment for babies. We believe a proper home for Gibson is as an indoor/outdoor or pure outdoor environment. Perhaps as a barn cat or something similar.
