Story
This cutie is KIMBO, a male, Cairn Terrier/Chihuahua mix, who is around 5-6 years old and weighing around 16-18 pounds. He has a rough/wiry coat that just needs routine brushing. Kimbo is a sensitive dog who was treated unkindly when he was young so he requires time to adjust to his new surroundings and people; a patient and understanding adopter is a must for him, but he is SO worth it. He is a very sweet, shy dog who is great with other small dogs and enjoys playing with them for hours. When he’s done playing, he loves to nap on his foster mom’s lap. Kimbo lives easily in a foster home with two teenagers and his foster mom and a few dogs. We are seeking a calm, adult or adult with teen(s) household, another small, playful dog with whom he can buddy, and a securely fenced yard.  Kimbo enjoys going for walks and will benefit from continued walks to help him become more and more comfortable with seeing and hearing "life" going on around him. Kimbo is crated when people leave the home and at night, which he accepts easily. He is housebroken when taken out on a schedule.  He is uncomfortable meeting new people so he is not a dog that would do well with an adopter who wants to have a dog who goes out and meets people at events, restaurants, etc.  Kimbo's history is sad; his owner got him as a puppy and when the kids tired of him, he was relegated to living in the basement with minimal attention. He has done very well in foster care and will make a great companion for a Terrier loving person. This dog has been examined by a licensed veterinarian, provided vaccines, been dewormed, tested for diseases, neutered, and microchipped.  ADOPTION APPLICATIONS are available upon request from acaringplace@comcast.net.   A Caring Place - All Breed Dog Rescue adopts throughout the Greater Chicagoland Area. All dogs and puppies live in foster homes, providing you as the adopter, with information on the animal's behaviors, needs, and requirements. We are always in search of fosters care providers. If you are one of those special people willing to open your heart and home to an animal in need and would like to receive information on how you can foster an animal, please contact us.     July 2, 2026, 4:29 pm

Story
This handsome tan Terrier mix (who is just about a year old) is looking for his perfect match, and it might just be you! ✨ Max is a friendly, people-loving guy who does great with adults and older children — he's got a sweet, social personality and genuinely enjoys being around his people. He's already neutered, up to date on his rabies vaccine, and on heartworm prevention, so he's ready to go! Max is a high-energy, enthusiastic player who really comes alive with a big canine buddy to romp around with. He thrives with a larger dog companion who can keep up with his playful spirit — if you have a bigger pup at home who loves to wrestle and run, Max might be exactly the match you've been looking for! Max would do best in a home without cats and without small dogs, where he can be the fun, spirited boy he truly is without any added stress. He has some prior training under his belt, so he's not starting from scratch! With consistent positive guidance and the right environment, Max is ready to blossom. If you're an active family with older kids and a big dog who needs a new best friend, Max is calling your name! Interested in Max? Fill out an adoption application on our website today! If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! The adoption fee of $200 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 2, 2026, 2:02 pm
