We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 100-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.-Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

Story
What a cutie patootie! Kevin is estimated to be about 3 years old and weighs 12 pounds. Meet Kevin, a bundle of playful and silly fun! He couldn't wait to show off his new haircut, just look at that smile, you can tell he feels so much better now as he came to us very matted. This sweet and active boy is a ray of sunshine, always ready for a good time. With his cute and curious nature, Kevin will keep you on your toes and fill your days with laughter, especially when the toys come out! He's a true adventurer, ready to be on the go and have fun. Kevin is a young boy with a heart full of hope, waiting patiently for his forever family to find him. He will need a home where any children are at least 13 years old. Kevin would love it if you came to meet him. If you are interested in Kevin and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
Meet Fritz! He is a young adult, terrier mix who needs a very special home. Fritz did not have the best start in life but he is slowly learning how amazing life can be.  He needs an adult only home with a family that has worked with very timid and shy dogs. He is one who he needs to see that everything is safe; that means letting him blossom on his own terms. He has been around cats and small dogs and has done well, but he will need very social and easy going pet friends who will also give him time and people who will do slow and safely planned introductions.  Because he is skittish at first (and is sensitive to environmental sounds), a fenced yard is needed for his safety. He is asking for a lot, but we just want this boy to be successful and loved for the rest of his life. If you are looking for a sweet soul who needs patience, kindness, and a gentle hand, then head to www.ccrcdogs.to fill out an application.             We do not have a facility for you to visit. You are welcome to email ccrcdogs@ccrcdogs.com with specific questions, but please complete the online application, which can be found at www.ccrcdogs.com, to secure your position in line for one of our dogs. You can also find a description of our process on that same page. Puppies will not be available to be seen until their 10-day quarantine has passed. Our adoption fees are listed on our website and cover the cost of the spay/neuter, age-appropriate shots and tests, medications to bring the dog to full health, and a free visit with one of our approved vets after adoption. Most dogs at CCRC are obtained from animal control centers so there is often very little known about their history or current habits. You can always expect to do some training, regardless of whether you adopt a dog or a puppy, including crate training, house training, and basic manners. CCRC has a variety of materials and resources to assist you with this, and we have trainers who will offer free phone/email support. January 15, 2026, 5:12 pm
