MEET SKIPPER — A LITTLE GUY LEARNING THAT LIFE CAN BE GOOD AGAIN At just 3 years old and 14 lbs, Skipper found himself in a tough spot. His owner was homeless, and without consistent shelter, care or medical attention, this little guy was suffering. Fleas and severe matting had left his skin terribly irritated, and his neck was so raw and infected that he couldn't even comfortably wear a collar. Understandably, Skipper was scared. He hid in his crate and growled, unsure who he could trust. Then a rescue angel stepped in to help Skipper. Jeanne opened her home and heart to this frightened little guy, giving him the patience, safety and time he needed to begin healing. With treats, veterinary care, antibiotics, prednisone and lots of TLC, Skipper slowly learned that he was safe — and that people could be kind. Today, he's a sweet, playful little guy who continues to make progress every day. He still has some triggers, typically around resource guarding, but where he once might have snapped, he is now more likely to growl and communicate that he's uncomfortable. He can get overstimulated during play with another dog in the home, so those interactions are managed, but he has not shown aggression during play. He's doing well with potty training and has even made friends with Jeanne's husband, now seeking him out for affection. Now Skipper needs help moving on to the next chapter of his life.
